Re: Ever seen one of these??
was there like a drying shelf on the bottom? looks like there are lugs to hold a shelf on the bottom.
Re: New refrigerants Epa 608
Unofficial, i hear 134a works well in r290 equipment.
Way different pressures temperatures.

Re: Support steam pipe with split ring hangers
if the threaded rod is long it will work.
if the split ring is over the insulation it will work.

Re: Magnesium anode vs Electric anode vs No anode
I did use so-called black steel pipes (honestly I don't know why they call them that…they are just steel as far as I can tell)…what kind should I have used?
I have heard people say that the glass lined tanks are really more of a baked on enamel that is prone to cracking.
My favorite tank I've ever seen is the Rheem Marathon (plastic)—I wish they offered that as a heat pump unit.
Re: Summer shut down and 8 way treatment
ASME Code (I know it doesn't apply to residential) used to talk about "wet lay up" and 'dry lay up"
Re: Steam pressure; always amazed folks set it high
Pressure setting is way too high. That particular pressuretrol can be set all the way down to a bit below 2 psig, with a 1 psig differential — which is the best they'll be able to do.
Re: New refrigerants Epa 608
And yet those are running similar pressures to R22 systems that used to last 30+ years.
I've heard people blame the high pressure of 410A, obviously that's not the case on an R290 system.

Re: leaky sink trap connection
Pipe dope on the plastic/nylon gaskets, tighten hand-tight, and where plastic meets plastic. No leaks.
Intplm.
