Re: A question about design.
It's hard to follow, it doesn't matter if its a triangle or has some 45's, the shape doesn't matter. If you have zones on the secondary loop, and all the zones have their own pumps, and those zones are NOT hydraulically separated from the secondary loop (which would give you tertiary loops?) then no you do not need a pump to circulate water around the secondary loop. Each zone pump will pump its own zone, and will circulate through the low loss header, and from what you described its not really an issue to have the expansion tank piped into the LLH like that, though personally I like to have it on the return of the boiler loop on the suction side of the pump, the location you described is OK as well just makes techs scratch their heads when they see it. I would draw this out if I were you, and not draw it like a triangle or anything, just make straight lines representing each zone so you can read it easier, it will more than likely answer the question for you.
Re: Old copper pipe smaller than todays 1/2"
Hi, I'll just throw it out there that some freezing in copper tube can expand the tube a little, so it is no longer the size of either plumbing or refrigeration tubing. So the choices are to either cut a bit more tubing out, back to where it didn't freeze, or silver braze/solder the leak. Finding a way to keep it from freezing in the first place would be nice, as soft copper can only be expanded so much… or maybe this is a good place for PEX. 🤔

Re: Energy Kinetics System 2000 Heat Exchanger
Thank you for your post, @RJHNY1 .
For reference, HeatingHelp does not allow prices, so that will probably be removed if you do not remove it.
From this page, we show that trade list price of the plate heat exchanger. It is unusual (but not unheard of) that a heat exchanger would fail in the way you describe (it could also be a bad expansion tank that allows the system to over pressurize). The photo does look like it might be dripping out of the side of the heat exchanger, in which case it needs to be replaced. That type of failure is from corrosion and our plate heat exchangers for several years now have a non-stick coating that prevents most mineral build up and is also very corrosion resistant, so it should last a very long time. If it corroded from the domestic water side, you should have your water checked, and if it corroded from the boiler side, it should probably be flushed and have an additive like 8-Way that increases the pH and prevents hydronic side corrosion.
The best way for me to help is to have you reach out to your territory manager, John Hachmann, who knows all the dealers in your area. He can be reached at (516) 459-1701 or jhachmann@energykinetics.com .
Please also feel free to reach out to our customer service team at (908) 735-2066 or reply again to the PMs that we've exchanged.
Best,

Pretty house, like your flower boxes. Keeping the upper level window boxes water have proven to be a challenge for us. 😉

installation hasn’t happened yet. They have been out once so far to look at the support structure of the house frame.
During the quote process I sent them photos of the attic and the floor plans.
Since this roof supported 2 layers of shingles for about 30 years and now has one layer, and since it’s built with old growth pine with old, larger dimensions that is very strong I personally am not worried about it.
Panels weigh like 3 pounds per sq ft. My understanding is that roofs are expected to be able to carry 20 pounds per sq ft of snow without stress.

Re: Cold Radiator
That section of horizontal riser on the top floor most likely is the trap . The radiator need to be lifted to regain the pitch in that section . Someone pulled the radiator to finish the radiator nook and left the shims out .
Hope this helps
