Re: Faucet Washers
The one thing I ALWAYS do with replacement stems, bibb screws, et al, is use copious amounts of high temp faucet stem grease IN the female threaded holes AND in the bibb screw thread. They last longer and you can get them out much easier in the trs ahead. Mad Dog
Re: Boiler harmonics/piping fix
I have use a mechanic's stethoscope you can get at Harbor Freight or any auto parts store and checked the sys. It is helpful in pinpointing noisy components. Or, Amazon's
allsun Auto ultrasonic Car Noise Finder Diagnostic Listening Device Stethoscope 100Hz-10kHz Black. Or,
Chassis Ear Automotive Engine Noise Finder Tool, 6 Channel Chassis Ears Sound Detector Identify the Troubling Engine Noises (Over-Ear Headphones)
Noise is not necessarily a harmonic. Harmonic has a specific definition.
Re: Question about steam cast iron tube radiator size(btu) for upstairs room(s)
Personally I would just use Ventrite #1's to slow them way down and be done with it. $35 on Ebay w/ free shipping. Not saying TRV's wouldn't be an even more elegant solution, just your money and your decision. I tend to be a bit frugal…
Re: steam vs vapor system
It appears most, if not all single family systems would fall under the "vapor system" definition then, no?
I'd think any of them are more than capable of running at less than 1 pound.
What other differences are there?

That same type of radiator, without the cabinet, was sold for placing around a window frame.
Re: Rococo Dining Room Radiator Install- Why Are These So Rare?
The tall "transition sections" have a plug facing outward. When the plug is removed, the left/right nipple connecting it to the small section can be accessed and tightened. Am I making sense? The whole thing assembles with left/right threaded nipples tightened with an internal wrench. @mattmia2
The two transition sections also have only two columns, which promotes steam distribution between the small and tall sections.
Re: steam vs vapor system
yes but be careful, sometimes you have to bump it up a little for it to reliably cutin, make sure you are really sure it is reliably cutting in at the low setting before you leave it unattended for a while.
Re: steam vs vapor system
My vapor system was installed in around 2001-2002 with advice from Noel Murdough (RIP) & Steamhead. I installed 2 1/2" mains. It's all one pipe except the Two pipe Bundy with the loop seal. Runs on around 10 ounces of steam vapor. Mad Dog
Re: steam vs vapor system
Actually, my partner @Gordo does those videos. I'm rarely in them, we don't want the camera to break.
