Re: Control assistance
Back draft may happen ONLY if that new duct causes a negative pressure in the room. So if the wood stove room has the doors shut and any supply register are sealed off, then that room may have a negative pressure. However I see the wood stove room as one that has the entry way from the rest of the house always open, with an open floor plan to the rest of the house. There is most likely no closable door to that space. But that is just my thoughts on that matter. @SuperTech, you are correct to point that out, just in case I am wrong about my floor plan assumptions.
Re: Measuring heat loss for a properly sized Combi
My mistake, I got the EK Ascent and Resolute mixed up.
Re: Measuring heat loss for a properly sized Combi
It's not cast iron, it's steel and better than any cast iron boiler. Energy Kinetics makes a version of the System 2000 that has the boiler above a small storage tank. With their plate heat exchanger it produces plenty of hot water. With the Carlin EZ gas burner you will get over 85% AFUE and you don't have to deal any condensate or modulating equipment, much more appropriate for baseboard heating than a combi in my opinion. I've seen these boilers fit in tight closets nicely.
EK also has the Resolute boiler that is designed to replace tankless coil boilers, although I am not sure if they are available with the Carlin EZ gas burner, I've only seen them with oil burners.
Re: Check out this puppy.
American Radiator Company...still figuring it out. It has a slip over cover
Re: Replacing Ecobee Stat 02 with Amazon Thermostat. Taco Relay with Gas Fireplace.
That wiring looks perfect.
Taco Relay shoold last another 20 years or so. Unless the relay is short cycled about 20 times an hour, 24/7/365 (with a vacation day every Feb 29) then it may only last 10 years.
Re: Cold Climate Heat Pump Coil
@EdTheHeaterMan 's advice above is excellent. You may have to adjust the blower speed to compensate for the restriction in the plenum. External static pressure should be checked once the modifications are done. Also if you are keeping the gas furnace, recheck the temperature rise with the gas burner on against the manufacturer's specification.

Re: Zone not circulating to all baseboards well. Purging air question
There are date codes on the 2 Tacos circs. That may help determine if they have, or could have internal checks. That would be the easiest out.

Re: Zone not circulating to all baseboards well. Purging air question
That appears to have the internal flow check, so an external flow check is not necessary on that loop, unless the IFC has failed or was removed or was not included with that circulator pump.
Re: Measuring heat loss for a properly sized Combi
I just installed a Burnhma Alta 136 combi on home that has 11/2 baths. I installed a mixing valve on the domestic side which is required by most boiler manufacturers which make combi boilers. I set the dwh to 140 and mixed down to 120, have had no issues with be able to supply enough hot water.
I personally am not a fan of combi boilers but space was limited.
