Re: Relays on steam boilers
The relay probably has a part number on it that could be researched and options developed.
Re: JB Weld repair of steam radiator crack
If they run the pressure low it will probably last a while. Looks like you did a good job cleaning it up.
Re: Combines intake and exhaust on gas w/heater?
does it have a mushroom cap on the outside like this. If so it is a concentric kit.

Re: Pumping AC unit down in winter
Not supposed to pump down a scroll. You can pump it down partially and then recover the rest.
When you evacuate the lines set and open the valves then warm the compressor if it is cold out. Depending on the temperature. You can also throttle the suction valve as @pecmsg said.
When they first came out with scrolls they said they could "eat liquid" and no CCH was needed. After compressors were failing CCHs became the thing. Carrier especially was famous for units with no CCHs.
Re: Pumping AC unit down in winter
it should have a crankcase heater.
just listen or Throttle the suction service valve valve maintaining 25-50 #’s

Re: Happy New Year!
My son and I enjoyed meeting you at the AHR in Atlanta GA. Too bad we are not going to make it to Florida this year. Happy New Year to all the WALLIES I met at Atlanta @archibald tuttle @hot_rod @Erin Holohan Haskell @DanHolohan and all the other wallies that have been so helpful to the folks that come here for the help they need. I enjoy sharing my knowledge and humor with everyone here.
If I have offended anyone as a result of my attempt at humor…. Get over yourself! I really don’t give a hoot! 🤣 (Hoot was not the word I intended to use but this post kept getting bounced until I changed it.)
