Re: Boiler water quality
The 8-way only works in the boiler. The steam that makes its way to your vents is distilled when it condenses. If rusty water is getting to your radiators and/or vents you have other problems.
I use 8-way and I find 1oz per gallon is the max and 0.5-0.75oz/gallon is ideal. My boiler has a 10 gallon water capacity and I add an 8oz cup worth. Keeps the pH around 10-ish.
When I first started using 8-way it was doing some cleaning and making the boiler water dirty. For the first time ever I got water hammer when the boiler shot a bunch of water up the mains. Now my boiler water is crystal clean.
Whether I put too much or too little in, my water line doesn't bounce any different.
**EDIT and I have a 42 year old Peerless G-461, which got renamed as the 61-04 and eventually the Series 64. Very similar to yours except another section in the boiler.

Re: steam radiators
What happens if you cautiously remove the vents on the misbehaving radiators? With someone to turn off the boiler if steam starts coming out?
If there is no change, and steam still stops before it gets to the radiators, check the radiator inlet valves… they may look open, but may not be.
Re: Lochinvar boiler isn’t keeping up
While the 40 may not be enough I don't believe the controls are set properly. If you set the controls right and keep the tank at 135-140 and mix it down and be a little more selective in your water, use you might get by.
Re: Can you please critique this boiler setup that was installed in my house two wks ago
It stinks (since you asked).

From the Peerless manual. Note the takeoff from the header needs to be after the two riser connections to the header:
Re: Lochinvar boiler isn’t keeping up
this indicates the boiler pump turns off on dhw call
If it is in zone mode a primary loop pump would also run

Re: Lochinvar boiler isn’t keeping up
The boiler needs to be sized to the biggest load. In todays energy efficient homes, the DHW ends up being the biggest load often
So knowing what a homeowners expectations are will help with tank selection.
If a tub is used frequently I suggest more storage capacity compared to a larger boiler able to give you 4 gpm or more
Tank temperature could be elevated and mixed down
Operation above 140 will shorten tank life and precipitate more minerals
What did you have for DHW in your previous home?

Re: Lochinvar boiler isn’t keeping up
the tub is 66x34 free standing tub. It’s approximately 45 gallons at 3/4 full. Now writing down those numbers and knowing how large my indirect tank is, my tank doesn’t seem large enough at all.
