Re: oil furnace sooting extensively
Extensive sooting in an oil furnace can indicate combustion issues. Check and replace the furnace nozzle, ensuring it is the correct size. Verify proper fuel-to-air ratio, adjusting if necessary, to prevent incomplete combustion. Inspect the chimney and flue for blockages, and ensure the burner assembly is clean. If sooting persists, consult with a qualified HVAC technician to address potential issues with the burner, heat exchanger, or other components that may be affecting combustion efficiency.Thank you AI, or captain obvious.
Re: Steam boiler sizing discussion
@Jamie Hall Yes, normal single pipe atmospheric.
And I didn't name the dry return on the picture, it came that way so I don't want any "heat" over it.

Re: Settings for Vaporstat + Pressuretrol in series?
Cheezus. Previous tech wired the LWCO and pressuretrol IN PARALLEL! 🤬 1&2on the MM 61.
I already got the new parts so I guess I can keep the old, old, old WR pressuretrol as a spare. 🙄

Are you implying it's correct? I've had some of the well known steam guys on the forum tell me it's not correct.
Just making sure I understand your comment correctly.

Re: Well that isn't going to work (outdoor unit iced over)
Put a roof over it. It's not rocket science to keep the ice and snow off the thing.Yes, snow comes straight down...lol
Re: Wireless Temperature Sensor causing insufficient heating
Try putting a shelf above the sensor like this:

Re: Help with GPM, maybe? (newbie/ DIY)
I think you are probably getting as much out of that water heater as you can expect to get. Give it time -- lots of it.
