Re: TACO 007 circulation pump question
@BHD_CT It could be the start of the cartridge assembly failing. Normal amp draw should be on the data label. I believe it is .74. If more than 1.5 x times that, then you could just change the cartridge 007-045RP.
If you want to go ECM with a 007e then you would have to change out the entire pump. It would be the same flange to flange dims so easy swap out. Unfortunately, you just can’t leave the old volute in and replace with the ECM motor assembly
. Any questions please call Taco Technical Services during normal business hours M-F 8am-5pm 401-942-8000. Have a great weekend.

Re: Plumbing and Steam Heating
There are NO contractors listed for New York here on the "Find a Contractor".
Re: Another discussion about steam boiler sizing
Gee, I don't know?
EDR? Well always have done it this way with steam. And a proper heat loss calculation when sizing for hot water.
I do not want to tinker with these proven methods.
They have never let me down.

Re: Sanden SanCO2 HPWH, adding WiFi controller
Is the model number you have compatible with the wifi controller?
Think of it like this. You have a television that has all the controls at the side of the screen and it did not come with a remote control. You need to make all the adjustments on the set itself (like in the 1960s)
You see a Universal Remote on Amazon and purchase it
When it arrives, you find that it will not operate your television. Then you realize your television does not have the receiver to accept remote control signals.
I would talk to the manufacturer (even in Australia) to see if your model number has the necessary receiver to accept the WiFi kit before purchasing it.
Maybe the WiFi signals spin the other way in the southern hemisphere... You know, like whirlpools do

Re: Attic Radiator Sloshing/Spitting Water
Working on having him come out to take a look, since it was May when he put the boiler in, I had said let’s wait till fall to troubleshoot anything that might come up. I kinda dragged my feet reaching out because we don’t really use the attic much so it being cooler isn’t bothering us. Between heating emergencies and the holidays they’re understandably backed up.ethicalpaul said:What does the installer say?
When he was calculating the EDR for the boiler in the spring he did note that it was a huge radiator for the location and it was in a slightly odd location (off to the side of the window). He thought the original may have been replaced at some point with the big boy when the attic was converted into living space.
Re: Midea Unveils Stark Awareness Gap in Heat Pump Technology Among Homeowners and Contractors
Maybe, but what is the indoor temperature with 100% heat output, 60°?
Sounds like part of the 96% @HVACNUT Re: Advice regarding replacing a compression tank with an expansion tank
Yes -- but just think, soon you will be able to buy a Yugo electric car! And nothing else...
Re: Question about glycol
Thanks @hot_rod As usual, you are still teaching me LOLBrad White had a clever analogy on glycol back about 18 years ago here on HH.
@retiredguy Thats a great point. I am just concerned I will get that call on a Friday afternoon telling me there's water everywhere. Thanks

Re: is a magnetic boiler filter necessary?
You will be amazed how much "stuff" a magnetic separator pulls out. In addition to the dirt removal, the micro sized particles too small to filter out.
If you have, or ever add an ECM style circulator, it is critical to have a mag separator.
We installed a mag sep on our system in Milwaukee after 10 years of operation, these yellow bins show the result of the first flush.
It is another component to assure you system runs clean, and efficiently. Not unlike an oil filter and magnetic drain plug on a truck engine
