Re: Do old radiators lose efficiency?
Older doesn't necessarily make wiser, @EdTheHeaterMan !
Re: New Carpet Upstairs - Rainforest Downstairs
I'd be pretty amazed if he could remember any details about a job he did 16 years ago. I can't remember what I ate 2 days ago.
That said, did you look under the carpet at all to see if they ran tackless etc?
It could be a complete coincidence. But there's a good chance it's not.

Re: Carlin Pro-X 70200 Alarm Contacts
I wish my girlfriend had Alarm Contacts... Then I would know in advance that I'm in trouble and could prepare.
Re: Do old radiators lose efficiency?
After you replace the radiator(s) and you still have the same problem, what will you check next?
I believe the energy auditor has no clue. The basic concept of a cast iron radiator can not become more or less efficient with age. That is like saying a gallon of water in an 80 year old 5 gallon pale is not really a gallon. You need a new 5 gallon bucket in order to hold a gallon of water.
CAUTION. OLD BUCKETS HOLD LESS WATER THAT THEY USED TO

I never heard of cast iron losing efficiency, but the older I get I seem to lose some. Perhaps some auditors have lost some too.

Re: The case of the steam filled room. this Friday's case
We should strive for accuracy. A steam-filled room would be invisible and would cook you very quickly. The room was full of condensed aerosol water droplets
Re: Bridge Collapse
..... I drove US 13 a couple times. It is a longer drive. I think I'll get over my repulsion to flying. It should actually take less time now that traffic is messed up in Baltimore.
