Re: RV water heater idea
You might be a redneck... Is there any way you can get some insulation -- or at the very least a wind tight shield around the whole thing? But it mustn't hold water...
Re: The "I don't care" guy.....
That looks like a typical restaurant restroom where the owner is to cheap to hire a professional and let the busboy take care of it...

Re: Solar Eclipse effect on solar energy
Was a kid in New England in nineteen seventy when the last eclipse came close.
As a kid you can pick up on nonsense from people. I don't remember any of that going on back then.
Come to think of it, I didn't experience any of it, this fifty years later. My Tesla runs fine.

Re: Carolinas contractor
Thanks, @Mad Dog_2 .
Looks like theoretically one could ride down US 1 to get there from Baltimore, but it would probably take a week
@tsburris , can you post some pics of the boiler and a few radiators?

Re: Solar Eclipse effect on solar energy
I noticed this same phenomenon @EBEBRATT-Ed just before snow storms and hurricanes. Everyone rushed to the store to buy up all the bread, milk and eggs. I call this the French Toast Effect. If it gets dark for 4 minutes then when the sun comes back out its morning again, so we need the extra supplies to make afternoon french toast for second breakfast

Re: Pickup Factor in older buildings
Unfortunately, most contractors don't like math or calculations they would rather guess because they have been doing it for 40 years and know everything.
If you wanted to make thing more accurate measure all the mains & risers and figure the amount of steam condensed from the pipe and add that to the radiation load and go with that and no PU or a small 10%pu.

Re: The "I don't care" guy.....
I think it more likely a plumber wasn't involved, and whoever tiled behind the sink removed it for tiling and reinstalled when they were done.Of course.
Plumbers never do bad work.
