Where do you buy your little electrical fittings?
From the little people at the little store on the little street in the little town.
I couldn't help myself.

Re: combustion analyzer
The combustion analyzer my father in law used was a stack thermometer. After the measured the stack temp., he would wipe the stem on a white paper towel. That was the smoke test. If there was too much black on the paper towel then it needed more air. I don't think flame retention burners were invented yet, do just about every oil burner has at least a #1 smoke. That's kind of like the caveman's combination weather station and clock: a rock outside his cave. When the rock is wet, it's raining. When the rock is white, it's snowing. When you can see the rock, it's daytime. When you can't see the rock, it's nighttime.
He didn't like that new fangled cad cell control either. Sometimes you can't teach an old dog new tricks.

Re: Cast iron baseboard; leaking solder joint
Probably some old timer swapped out Pete's flux with a can of grease :-) And Pete probably had very poor eyesight :-)Of course it doesn't work. That's why every joint that Pete greased leaked when he turned the water back on. But he didn't do it because he thought grease would work, he did it because he thought a container of grease was a container of flux.Jersey2 said:I'm going to try it. I'm going to say, solder will not adhere to the copper with petroleum jelly or Plumbers grease, Duck Butter, et cetera. Its going to bead off...Mad DogI tried it despite knowing better lol. No it does not work. It makes me question the Plumber Pete story.

Re: Taco 007-F5 Replacement — Alaska, Help Needed
Of course @rick in Alaska would know the house that @ryanthevan lives in. How many people actually live in Alaska. Can't be that many!
Now with Rick in Washington State, There is one less there.
