The arrow is pointing to a full wave bridge rectifier. The capacitor is filtering the bridge output. I think that the rectifier diodes shorted out.

"A funny thing happened on the way to the Forum", Price Inflation. If the present boiler is "long in the tooth" and you're thinking of replacing it, what @109A_5 says makes sense. If you can afford it, figure out what you want and buy it now and put it in the corner of the garage until you need it. There are supply problems and price increases in the future.That is great that you were able to get the boiler so quickly, All you needed to do was move the home closer to sea level for the 3 months or so until you got the conversion kit. That must have been a real bummer moving the house all that distance. But at least you had great views for a couple of months
I ordered a boiler (very hi altitude) and I was told it was 5-6 mo out. I ordered a sea level unit because it was available and a hi altitude conversion kit. I was worried about not getting a boiler. One in the hand is better than two in the bush. I got the boiler in two days. I got the conversion kit in 3 1/2 mo.
Supply is an increasing problem.

Went there today. Beautiful 10ksqft Victorian with a chapel in it. Building management dysfunctional, Vision 3 board burnt, every 26-99 motor is facing up. Multiple dead pumps littering the soaked boiler room that's under an open gap board deck in the rain. System pressure at 35psi with 50# reliefs. 20 leaking (maybe 3-4 gallons an hour) flow setters improperly set. All pumps wired un-switched constant circulation. Expansion tank at 5 psi. 27 thermostats un-mapped. Air sep. clogged. F13 on the only "was working" boiler. Got them heat today at all good zone valves. First time in 4 years. DHW will take another day. Expensive assessment and emergency make-it-work hacks in the rain. I doubt they'll do anything. They'll just run it as is till it goes down again. Continuous leaking and all. Ghetto wealthy. They rolled their eyes when I tried to explain what's up. Maintenance guys have the replacement pumps sitting there like a pile of consumables. Maintenance head explains to his helpers: "You see, this system burns natural gas, electricity, circ. pumps and wastes 100 gallon of water a day. It works great. Ha Ha Ha, climbs into a golf cart."

I actually have a few mini splits in my area that the homeowner did just that to them. I guess those engineers never thought about the winter weather, lol.

Running the compressor with that much iced up is bad.
They say the new heat pumps will work in really cold weather. That may be true.
Who would like to go out in the snow and wind and try and troubleshoot the problem when it is below 0 the wind blowing and it is snowing.

Can you take a picture of the thermostat, the boiler from floor to ceiling and what type of radiant piping/tubing or radiators you have. In other words "Where is the heat coming from?" Is the floor warm?
