Re: Does any one know who manufacture's the mini-splits sold as Mountman?
Just for a date point, I installed a Comfort Aire mini split from a large supplyhouse chain. The inverter board failed at the beginning of the season. I'm still waiting on the factory to ship the replacement. 11 weeks and counting for parts, and Comfort Aire isn't the Amazon special.
I know for a fact that inverter boards for Mitsubishi are only a week or so away.
This one goes in the lesson learned pile.

Here is what 6200W did for my place.

Re: Trane ac air handler
most thermostats can be set to keep the blower running a minute or 2 after the cooling call ends too if you for some reason want that feature. seems to me you just will have to re-condense the moisture you re-evaporate anyhow.
Re: Trane ac air handler
Hey, this looks oddly familiar haha!
I originally bought the RLY02807 for around $60 online. The wiring for it is very straightforward, you can look at the manual it comes with online. However, after thinking and talking about it with the members on here, I decided against it and returned it.
For cooling, I don't want the fan to blow for an additional 1-2 minutes after the condenser shuts off. I want the fan to immediately shut off with the condenser to help with humidity. 'm in NJ and struggle with humidity issues over the summer.
So instead, I just kept the red wire that Ed highlighted disconnected and very securely capped it off. No issues since!
Re: Trane ac air handler
You can use the American Standard/Trane relay with the OEM huge mark up, or you can just get the one direct from the control manufacturer. https://www.supplyhouse.com/White-Rodgers-57T01-843-Blower-Time-Delay-Relay
Re: Help Sizing A Multi-Zone Mini Split System - Minimum Capacity?
Mitubishi has an app note specifically to address this issue but only nerd would read that.
If you do go with a multi, make sure to ask wired or wifi remotes for it. This at least allows you to program in fan off in cooling and heating which fixes some of the comfort issues.

Re: boiler replacment opinion on the West Coast
Viessman is considered top of the line if you have someone who knows how to service them. To me tankless water heaters are problematic.
boiler replacment opinion on the West Coast
I’m a home owner and am looking for some opinions to cross reference the bids of installers. Many seem to steer me to a boiler and tankless water heater. My triangle tube solo boiler for heat and my Takagi 3 tankless water heater for DHW needs to be replaced soon so I’d appreciate some feedback. I live on the coast of San Francisco. My house has staple up floor hydronic heating zones and the walls are insulated with R13 and floors and ceiling at R30. I’ve done a rough total house heat loss calculation of 35K. We have 2 full time residents but run a regularly booked Airbnb frequently with 4 guests
In looking back and with current research it seems my installer did not account for the value of stored thermal mass even though I have a decent size mechanical room.
Now that gas and electricity costs are much higher, I’m thinking of going with a Viessman Vitodens 200 boiler, 80 or 120 gal Vitocell 300 indirect tank for DHW. I’m also considering 2-3 solar thermal panels now or in the future. I'm mainly interested in the Viessman for the integration and ease of installation even though it's more expensive.Any thoughts or advice would be appreciated.
Re: I'm getting solar panels. I'll let you know how it goes in this discussion thread.
Strange how we are using much more electricity than ever before, yet the lights stay on! I guess they are reacting pretty well! Is it possible they might in fact be doing a little proactive planning and engineering?
