Re: Energy Kinetics EKF1 - New installation not heating radiators as hot as previous boiler
Yes, the link you sent describes smart boost and its operation. Feel free to Dm me if you have any questions.

Re: Heating an Old House: Gas Heat Options
This is a very charming nice looking house you have. The front looks great and from what I can tell it will even look better as you continue. I especially like the kitchen. I truly do, right down to the dog. I hope in the future you will post some before and after pics.

Re: Indirect HW off steam- shaking circulator
Perhaps I can encourage them to add a strainer while they are re-piping it anyway. That is after all, depicted in the Burnham diagram.
Re: Indirect HW off steam- shaking circulator
These circulators are designed to work with a certain amount of pressure. Steam boiler have close to zero pressure as it is and you would like to eliminate anything that might reduce that pressure.
Re: Indirect HW off steam- shaking circulator
Not sure how well the "E" circulators work with your typical steam boiler, that has some degree of dirty water. Not a big fan of introducing anything that restricts flow or causes pressure drops. Including flowchecks and filters
Re: Indirect HW off steam- shaking circulator
Put the circulator as close to the boiler outlet as possible. And even more importantly, put the circulator as close to the floor as possible. Personally, I do not use flowchecks at all in these applications. I tell from the picture, and my apologies if this has been mentioned, but make sure the return tapping is low enough that it is constantly submerged in water. Even when the boiler water level drops due to normal operation..... 1" is a typical minimum pipe size that I try to use, and have used many times successfully.
Re: Energy Kinetics EKF1 - New installation not heating radiators as hot as previous boiler
We have a feature called smart boost in the display manager. When enabled it will increase the supply water temperature by 20 degrees. The smart boost will kick in after 25 minutes of a call for heat if it hasn't been satisfied. This can also be set for a 45-minute start time if desired.

Re: Flex Joint?
Aye,,,, I've used them too — but for the pump vibration, not a boiler vibration.
Re: B@J Big Mouth Serviceability
Hello Wcurtis,
If you want to see some pictures of my Big Mouth modification, here is the link, pictures start about half way down, some other comments about why throughout the thread. I used two sockets 1-3/4 inch (cap) and 1-7/16 inch (to hold the body) to take it apart and not chew it up with other wrench types. The spud wrench is 5/8 hex for other curious folks.
