My steam boiler is short cycling, this weeks video
This weeks video discusses how to know if the boiler is short cycling and if it is, the possible causes. Have a great weekend.
Re: Old fridge
more like 85-115. as long as someone replaces the refrigerant that leaks out the shaft seal.
did he figure out where that direct drive ge he found came from, why they were making it long after they had hermetic technology?
Re: Boiler running without a call for heat
It should work the other way around. The thermostat opens the zone valve, and the zone valve requests the boiler. The aquastat will run the boiler — or not — depending on whether the boiler is hot enough.
What you need to do is to disconnect the wires from the thermostat at the zone valve and see if the zone valve closes. It should… If it doesn't, there's a problem in the wiring, assuming the thermostat is off its base.
Hey, it works...
Someone messed up the water supply rough, but hey..it looks neat...nice Chrome Plated nipples ($$$) and it could double as a grab bar in an emergency. Mad Dog
Re: Beckett Oil Burner
They are pretty bullet proof. Motors and pumps usually last a long time.
I would say in this order:
Nozzles
pump strainer
electrodes
transformer
pump coupling
Motor
pump
Flame retention head
Re: Beckett Oil Burner
Nothing really sticks out. You should have all the parts on your truck.
Re: Floor Closet Flange Toilet
here is an update..got back to this job..replaced seals and gaskets on a brass 2 inch flush valve and put in a fluidmaster fill valve which i got from another toilet. i used the existing floor flange which was very solid and the lead bend was fine and soldered to the floor flange. Was able to place the toilet over the two existing unremovable johnny bolts and caught threads and was able to secure the toilet tightly to the floor over a jumbo thick wax seal. So far so good. Thanks for the info! I just like rebuilding old stuff. I would have used an old brass fill valve but it leaked from the top and kit was some crazy amount so used the one I had. Maybe if I can get a kit at a reasonable price or just take it apart and take a look at a later date. Sometimes things just have to be cleaned up or reversed.
