Re: Need second opinion on this Boiler install. Photos included
Understood. That's personal choice. Speak nicely to the installing contractor…………he won't do it for free.

Re: DIRECTION OF STEAM TRAVEL
I don't even see a Hartford loop !!! Does it even exist ?
Maybe more pictures from a bit farther away that include the wet return piping.
Re: NEW STEAM BOILER COST
Hard to find a chimney guy that can still do a drawn clay liner for a masonary chimney. Another lost art. Had all mine done by a 70+yr old 22yrs ago who had done my previous house 10 years earlier. 1/4 the price most chimney guys were quoting to install SS chimney liners.
Re: Balance issues in a single-pipe system
@ethicalpaul I should have updated the notes and not just the temps. For the most part, we're happy w/the way things are now, I just wanted to post the updated stats for those that might have the same issue and want to see the results. Sometimes folks ask things here, get an answer and don't come back to say how it went. I didn't want to be one of those people. Anyway, thanks again to all!

Re: NEW STEAM BOILER COST
3x the boiler cost is a fair starting point, but have some contingency money as well for like asbestos removal, chimney liners, radiator valves and condensate return lines, etc.
………………ducting to bring fresh air to the boiler room from outdoors……………..with fire damper
……………… 2.5" risers, 4" drop header……………………………………………………………………………………..
…………………removing cement encased 500g oil tank in an oil to gas connversion……………………..
………….…….removing and replacing 40' of 1" merchant couplings………………..repiping the HWH..no 1/2" permitted anymore………
………………..Installing CO detector with boiler shutoff…………
………………..Tekmar 279 in lieu of thermostat……………………………
…………………40' SS chimney liner………………8"…………………………………
……………….1" insulation on all NBP and 100' of 2.5"…………………………………………
………………..2.5" King Valves (2)……………………………………………………………………..
………………..timer to delay feed water for 12 minutes after shutdown……………
……………….. (2) Gorton 2, (4) Gorton 1, (8) Gorton 4, (10) Gorton 5, (4) Gorton 6..
……………..in NYC………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………
6X cost of boiler.

Re: Pressuretrol Calibration
Mexico.
I know we're all grown up men here, but I'll mention this since no one else has: The pressure control is a life saving safety device. Meddling with it, adjusting it or molesting it can cause its failure and a dangerous condition. Boilers can and do explode. Make sure there is a proper pressure relief valve or redundant pressure safety control on any boiler. There, it's said.
Re: OIL FIRED DRAFT PROBLEM
You might need to make a neutral pressure point adjuster to limit the breech draft and volume of air sucked out the barometric. You could keep the 7" pipe and use an 8" Field M (vs. an RC or a 7") for maximum control. Pose the question at Alan's Oil Tech Talk too, http://www.oiltechtalk.com/ as the diehard oil guys all hang out there.

Re: How Do I Connect This Wire?
Here is something that may be needed in order to get your TAM7 variable speed air handler to stop blowing cold air. Your thermostat must be programed to use the green wire to turn on the blower for heat. (I need to check the TAM7 info to see if that is possible) Then a Heat Relay, a Heating Fan Relay and a L6006C Aquastat must be added in order to send the circulator Taco SR502 a signal and the boiler's burner the signal to operate… Along with a second relay to open the G (fan) wire circuit from the thermostat and then compete the G wire thru the L6006C (the shaded area)
This diagram was to solve thesame problem of bowing cold air on a variable speed air handler
This will solve your problem completely without using the Navien A/H or the DHW PRI terminals, as they seem to have some issues when more than one air handler is used.
Does the same company make all these different brands of steam boilers?
I'm wondering why so many steam boilers look exactly alike and even have the same dimensions and btu in and out. Are most of them manufactured by the same company? Crown looks like New Yorker which looks like Archer etc...

Re: NEW STEAM BOILER COST
Anyone else remember the dream team job from a few years back?
