Re: New Weil-McClain Steam Boiler w Domestic Coil - NOT WORKING - HELP!!
There's a round coil bolted into where the "skim port" should be on a steamer and it has pipes going to it, not just the Aquastat.
My EG series has nothing of the sort there, just a tapping for a skim port.

Re: Steam boiler equalizer
There is nothing in the Burnham Manuals that state anything about the equalizer except:
- Specify minimum size, no maximum size is given
- Specify that any size reduction must be in the vertical portion of the equalizer
And this in the attached found in the Steam Max manual.
you type faster than me!!
Re: Intermittent Burner ignition
I started having the problem this year with an old LUX PSP511A thermostat before switching to the Nest.
The Nest only highlighted how frequently the problem occurs.

Re: Trade school curriculums - how could they be better?
Apprenticeships through union are the best way that I have seen. It's a commitment on par with college typically but you are working and being paid the whole time and when you are done you have options. Being union affiliated has some big advantages if for nothing else than the experience you get.
Re: Air Scoop/HyVent Leaking
Those HyVents are notorious leakers and your guy did the right thing. Seems as though you have a lot of debris in your system that fouls the valve which then leaks.
In a perfect world, you should install a DirtMag to remove the debris. For the time being, screw down the cap on the Schrader valve to stop the leak and only open it up once or twice a year to vent air and then close it again.
That looks like a Danfoss Zone Control panel.
Twenty years is pretty good for your Munchkin to still be working. You must clean the heat exchanger regularly? I'd be looking to replace it next summer to be on the safe side, especially with a radiant system. It doesn't look like an easy job - very little room.
