Re: B+G Circ Pump making noise, coupler fine, bearing feels smooth
The coupling is usually the most common failure but yours looks ok, then bearing assembly then motor in that order.
B& G parts are $$$. You may want to consider a modern wet rotor circulator as a replacement.
They are usually less $$. The only downside is if you have a lot of rust sediment in the system they may not hold up as well without a strainer/mag filter.
You may want to run the motor while disconnected, check coupling etc and try to find where the noise is coming from. Eliminate those two and then it would have to be the bearing assy or impeller
Re: B+G Circ Pump making noise, coupler fine, bearing feels smooth
You’re probably not gonna find the impeller available as a separate part. At the least, you’ll have to buy the bearing assembly. But that circulator is 1950’s technology and an energy hog.
A Grundfos ups15-58 reverse flange (or equivalent) will bolt right back in there and cost a third of that dinosaur.
Like Ed mentioned, you may need to flush the system and add a dirt mag.
The piping is less than ideal with that ell that close to the inlet of the circulator.
A simple solution would be to remove the circulator, bolt a circulator flange directly to the one on the boiler and run the return piping up to where you can work on it. Then relocate the circulator, preferably to the supply side, down stream of where the expansion tank connects to the system - aka the Point Of No Pressure Change. This will help if there are any issues with air in the system.

Re: How do I correctly add water to boiler system?
The valve that is halfway looks like a bypass to control water temp.
Leave that one as is
I would open the backflow valves (green) then the one nearest the boiler. Then the one upstream of the backflow preventer slowly.
When you are done I would shut only the upstream valve.
I would also ask the installer why all the valves were left shut off.
For a 1 or 2 story house 15 psi is enough and is the normal setting. 12-20 is considered safe. The pressure will rise when the boiler is hot and up to temperature.
Re: Any plumbers good at small bathroom layout?
masking tape and gloves for the silicone. coping saw and a compass to scribe the baseboard
Re: Blower motor shaking but not starting
I would have your electrician friend certainly do an amp draw.
I know the old motor was 1/3 hp and the new one is the same hp but that is really small for a furnace blower motor.
If the motor is hot you could be tripping on thermal overload, or the blower bearings could be the problem putting too much load on the old and the new motor.
An amperage test will show this.
Re: Any plumbers good at small bathroom layout?
this bathroom is 5' x 5'. very comfortable and easy with a pocket door
Re: Can a new steam system be installed in a new residential house?
Isn't that true, kinda like HVAC 🙄. One of my closest friends, who is a CT Yankee but apprenticed under a Japanese post and beam master. Frankly he can do anything with a pencil, square and a good circular saw (although he has lots of cool toys). It blows my mind how much work stoppage I've seen on a jobsite because they couldn't find a premanufactured door sill etc. He just makes everything, custom widows, doors, it doesn't matter.
Re: Need help finding a small boiler burner 12-15Kwh
Look to the boat, Dickinson Marine and RV industry for gasoline and diesel heaters in small sizes. You will find air, hydronic and some combined heaters for DHW and heat.
There are also some wood fired versions. I have. Cubic Mini wood burner in my camper, originally designed by a sailer for his boat.

Re: Gift Wrap Your Message
A great story. I also couldn't help but feel the relationship from one generation to the next. I'll explain.
@Erin Holohan Haskell Opens the circulator as her, after Christmas, Christmas present. 30 years later, she purchases the business from her father@DanHolohan, continuing the "circulation." The entire story hits home in so many ways.
