Re: Monoflo tee and pumping away
And the behaviur of a monoflow system has nothing to do with the location of the pump nor even the static pressure in the system. It does, however, have a lot to do with the water velocity in the distribution pipes — so one way to mess it up which your guys may have found is to substitute a very different pump…
Re: LP boiler Shuts off completely after reaching room temp
I wouldn't replace it by shooting the parts cannon. What happens if you replace it and that doesn't fix it? If you have a standing pilot you have to light with a match or lighter, do you??
If you do I doubt the aqua stat is your problem. Post some pictures you probably have a bad thermocouple. The pilot once lit should stay lit
Re: Monoflo tee and pumping away
They don't know what they are talking about.
In most residential systems the pump location doesn't matter because the systems typically have little pressure drop.
But pumping away is better and if possible, you always pump away from the expansion tank.
Re: Hydronic Heat Zone heating when thermostat is off
The black ones don't accept an IFC. As far as I know, the black 007's are shipped with package boilers.
If you can get a press tool, you can install spring checks on the returns.
It's weird that this is the first year its happening. You're sure there's no check valves anywhere that we can't see in the pics?
What boiler is there? Does it have separate BTU outputs for domestic, fin tube, and radiant? It must have because I don't see any mixing valves.

Re: DIY questions tuning up my furnace
@HVACNUT which is why he should take that valve ot and install a check valve.
Re: Main Vent Location
Then if you think your short of venting you can put larger vents on any radiators that are near the end of the main.
But the best alternative to a main vent is to take the radiator valve off one of the rads and install a tee with a vent on the inlet to the radiator. Keep the radiator vent.
This is called a riser vent or a master vent.
Re: Commercial Building help please
You will have 3 controls, one that sets the threshold between low and high fire, one that turns the burner off altogether, and a 3rd with a setpoint higher than the operating controls that is manual rest so if the operating control fails and trips manual reset control, you know that you have to fix the operating control. The manual rest control won't trip unless something has gone wrong. Ideally the manual reset control would be on a separate tapping and water seal.
Re: Pressuretrols and Gauges
Usually, manual reset pressure control is installed on commercial jobs. In MA where I am they are required over 200,000btu.
If in doubt put it on the new boiler. It should be on its own pigtail not doubled up like on the old boiler.
No pressure on the gauge is a good thing not a bad thing. Put a LP gauge on if you want. You have to keep the 0-30 gauge and I would put a petcock on the LP gauge only. Keep it off when not checking pressure.
