Re: Boiler Pressure
the only thing they care about is how yo rate them in the survey and if they closed the ticket. they aren't evaluated on if they actually solved your problem or not.
Re: Axeman-Anderson oil fired boiler vs. Burnham oil fired
Much more to the point — what is the make and, if possible, model of the burner and control assembly? It is the burner which isn't firing — not the boiler; the boiler is jut a big hunk of iron.
Your problem isn't the boiler, it's the burner — and we may be able to help with that.
Re: Boiler Pressure
I agree 100%.
Unfortunately it’s a mine field out there for ANY type of repair services.
When consumers find someone they can trust take very good care of them.

Re: would you replace these controls immediately or wait and see?
Water damage to electrical controls can lead to corrosion, short circuits, and electrical failures, posing safety hazards and reducing functionality. Water is a conductor of electricity, and its presence in electronic devices can create unintended electrical connections and damage components, especially if the device is powered on during contact.
As others have suggested, I would replace any components with said water damage.
Re: Old house heating: Steam radiators or forced air?
Contact @EzzyT to review what you have, what's wrong and what's needed.

Re: 300 cfm per ton?
Exhaust fans will not help. You exhaust air and more air infiltrates in putting more load on the system.
Re: would you replace these controls immediately or wait and see?
Oh!? If it's a customer, I would change, swap things out. Who needs the headache of the maybe it will fail maybe it won't scenario? So, "When in doubt, change it out !"

Re: How does water velocity affect a hydronic system? This weeks video
I would have liked to see pressure gauges on each side of the pumps to see the actual pressure drops vs. calculated.
TACO 007’s are such a “gentle” pump; hard to image them over pumping.
With all our knowledge, there are many weird things that happen on jobs that confound us and are beyond explanation.
Re: Old house heating: Steam radiators or forced air?
If it's a single pipe system there's several things that can cause the hissing.
We can help you, but you'll need to help us do a radiator survey to see what's there and then compare it to your current boiler size. We also need to look at what venting you have.
DO NOT replace the boiler with the same exact size until a survey is done. Don't assume, and don't let the contractor assume. Also don't assume the piping is correct.
