Re: What are the most well-established US manufacturers of residential electric boilers
If going all electric just put electric baseboards in each room!
At least you'll be able to control each room separately.

If you didn't vac it down, it isn't going to work.

Re: Megapress G
We are not allowed to use galvanized steel on gas piping in Massachusetts. I wouldn't recommend spray paint if you do have to paint the pipe. it just gets everywhere. roof, rooftop unit, cloths etc. We brush it on just to keep the site clean.
Re: Daikin 2-Zone - Which port to charge? - Instructions confusing
Both lines are on the low pressure side of the system, which is why they only give you one service port. You will get the same reading if they gave you a service valve on the line labeled "liquid". The TEV is in the condenser so the line labeled liquid is the outlet of the TEV which during the operating sequence will be mostly liquid even thou its starting its phase change.
if you have a system operating with 410a refrigerant, you have a blended refrigerant. Because you have a blend you have (2) refrigerants working together but they have different boiling points. if you charge in vapor there is a real chance that you will fractionalization, the separation of the refrigerants. You can have one entering the system more than the other so the composition will not be correct.
to avoid that you turn the cylinder upside down and allow the refrigerant to leave the cylinder as a liquid. but this doesn't mean to allow liquid into the system. you meter it in with your gauge or you can buy a tool that will help you with that.
Re: Megapress G
I did multiple Viega training at their New Hampshire facility and was specifically told not to silicone the gap. its not an approved installation practice by Viega. I can't remember why.
As far as painting gas pipe. It all needs to be painted outdoors. why would a Viega fitting be any different. its carbon steel.
Re: Daikin 2-Zone - Which port to charge? - Instructions confusing
Liquid (bottle upside down) into the suction port. Probably doesn't matter which head, as long as the entire system is operating.
Re: heating oil tank manufacturer's warranty voided by transfer of oil from the old tank?
This is one of those things like "you must always install a drop header" or "you must use all boiler supply tapings on a steam boiler" or "don't use Teflon tape on oil lines".
All oil tanks collect water from condensation because basements are usually cooler that the outdoor temp in the summer.
A lot of people transfer oil from old to new tanks. Is it a problem? Who knows.
The MFGs stich their orr in the water to CTA. Just like they do with Teflon tape. We used Teflon for years before that rule changed with no issue.
Something happens down the road with a tank and the MFg anit gonn pay no matter what they are long gone. We all know that. they don't pay when boilers crack either. They can always find an excuse.
Re: Cyclegard green light blinking and clicking rapidly - boiler wont fire
You can temporarily bypass the LWCO and see if the boiler fires
Re: Cyclegard green light blinking and clicking rapidly - boiler wont fire
Not necessarily the LWCO. As stated above, a short anywhere in the circuit, can cause the chattering. Look for frayed wires, touching the boiler jacket. Or hot/ neutral wires touching. We're there any recent changes? Did anyone add a smart thermostat and change some wiring? How old is the boiler? Was there any construction done in the house? Is it possible that someone put a screw through some wires?
