Re: Attic expansion tank
Wouldn't the rivets date it back 100 years ?
Someone would want it.... Advertise it for $300-400 and accept what you want...

Re: Can hydronics affect your router's signal?
I always wondered why my tropical fish never reply to my emails. I'll have to get them an ethernet connection.

Re: Can hydronics affect your router's signal?
There was some research done on this about 25 years ago. It was sparked by the advent of wireless thermostats and their poor performance. It was believed that the water in the tubing had a dampening effect and was disrupting the sign wave patterns thereby weakening the signal. I think that Stan Muma(Penn State) was involved.

Re: Pex & Rodents
Idk how all these people have mouse problems. I've never had to deal with rodents getting into the house and mine is also about 100 years old and drafty...
Oh I have cats, maybe that's why. They give my house a wide berth.
How long does it go unattended? Maybe some barn cats can resolve the issue?
*Yes I have had squirrels on the roof but that isn't IN the house obviously, because I know a smart*** somewhere will remind me of my solar panel damage.*
I've had a few mice get in over the years.
I've fixed most of the ways they were able to get in.
As far as cats..... I had a mouse go and walk past two Siamese cats and the cats couldn't be bothered......
I wasn't impressed.
I think if the cats are well fed and not kittens, they don't care.

Boiler Tube Plug Installation advise.
What is the correct way to install a tapered, cast iron Boiler tube plug on a steam boiler. The Boiler is 1,000,000 BTU gas fired Columbia, steel fire tube design with 2'' tubes . the boiler is used for process steam at 13PSI. I have been in the business for a long time BUT never installed a tube plug. Who says just smash it in, Who says wrap it with a rag, Who says use thread sealant ???? but what is the right way??? Any help would be appreciated
( I have been unsuccessful on 2 occasions and the customer is starting to look at me Funny)
Thank you
Mike

Re: Young People - The Smart Phone Generation
We hired a 20 year old for the warehouse who grew up and graduated from high school here in NYC.
He cannot type on a computer. He cannot do fractions. He cannot spell (spells crate as creed, bin as been). He can watch videos on his smartphone no problem, but googling for anything is unheard of.
Is the educational system to blame?
He left last week because I gave him a warning about slacking off in the far corners of the warehouse on his phone. He said he felt unappreciated and quit.

Hi @EdTheHeaterMan , I’ve got to agree with you. I only imagined water being in the tank, but who knows what else might have been lurking there 👽

Re: Attic expansion tank
If you put it at the curb with a note saying.....For Sale $10.....it will get stolen and someone else will haul it to the salvage yard for you and get their $2 cash.

Re: Attic expansion tank
Hi, Is there any chance it can take domestic water pressure? Can an anode be added to it? If so, and if you have a warm place near your water heater, this might be useful as a tempering tank, to somewhat preheat water going into your existing heater... That may be a lot of work for a little gain. Not a good idea. You don't know what that tank has in it after all these years. Maybe Larry would like to use it in his home? I would not want to use it in my home.Or cut it in half and have two really fancy pots for plants!
