Re: Poor plumbing installation in an expensive bathroom 🚻

i was eating something as i just scrolled back up and saw that little moat around the flange

Re: InSinkErator Garbage Disposal

I just replaced a badger with the same thing (in April) and had the same issue. Somehow I got it to line up to the existing piping ok.

Maybe it will fall off the sink LOL but hasn't yet. I like the older version of the lock ring

Re: InSinkErator Garbage Disposal

Thanks, @dko.

I like their use of the word "simply". And it does not make installation easier.

But I'll watch the video. Maybe I've got something to learn.

So.
It's like everything else.

To make it easier for unskilled people and make other's lives harder.

InSinkErator Garbage Disposal

On my last disposal installation with a Badger V, I came across a modification of the clamping ring. It has a small bump out on the inside of the ring that keys into a notch on the disposal body - see attached photo. The bottom ring has the bump out.

It turns out to be a big deal as it prevents you from orienting the disposal in the direction most beneficial. It only gives you 3 choices for mounting.

Just very curious as to why they did this.

Is it okay just to rinse your balls, or do you clean them with anything ? (condensate traps)

When cleaning out a condensate trap, I just power down and remove trap and then pop the ball out and rinse everything, then refill it with water and reattach it.
Not sure what the ball is made of (Triangle Tube boiler), but can they build up layers of anything with time ? If so, any suggestions for proper ball washing ?

It's ok though Mad.

He used a copper riser tube.   :D

Re: OUCH!

Back in the day, there was a saying "A penny for your thoughts?" I think these folks must have been asked for their thoughts many times a day! Maybe they were really smart.

That's my 2 cents worth

Re: Pro opinion on near boiler piping on a new steam boiler.

In NJ, it needs to be within 6" of the floor, and not threaded on the end. And it doesn't matter what most inspectors want, it needs to be an approved material.
Ok
Good luck with that.
