Re: Equalizer and near-boiler piping
Thought that was weird myself.
And why is it mounted so dang high?
So they didn't have to lower the return or lengthen the risers.
Re: Equalizer and near-boiler piping
Luckily the Equalizer doesn't do much. How well does it operate?
And why is it mounted so dang high?

Re: NYC Boiler Room ceiling must be sheet metal lined ?
@mattmia2 In Jouisey we are a little nicer... not much but a little. But If you practice the trade below the Trenton Dixon line. you are in the south where it is pronounced JEr*sy not Jouisey then we are a lot nicer.
Re: Recip / Sawzalls
Remember in the 1990s when China Renamed a manufacturing town "USA" so they could say Made In USA 🇺🇸? Mad DogThat was Japan and the city was named Usa long before WWII.

It would be great if we could assume that anytime we saw something like this it was done by an unlicensed individual.
Re: What are my chances removing a nipple from a 7 year old gas water heater tank?
Thanks. Funny I was going to use an easy out with a 3/4 outside diameter as the piece inside the pipe to keep it from collapsing. Just what I had. But interestingly, when I went to the heater armed with that and a 3/4 drill and a pipe wrench, I found the leak had stopped! It had been like a drop or two a minute, not a big leak, and I assume that a glob of dope got sucked into it and plugged it up!Larry Weingarten said:Hi @Jells , use a 1/2" easy out. Twist it in nice and snug. You won't risk getting any plastic bits into the tank, and although the pipe could deform a little, it can't get out of round enough to make it break off at the tank. No Zebras!Yours, Larry
Well, I'm not dumb enough to mess with something that's working. The water heater is in a pan with a leak alarm, so I'll know if it starts dripping again.
