Re: Painters
Not exactly on topic, But how many of us have that "not enough heat" call during our coldest and busiest day of the season, only to find the newly installed wall to wall carpet is blocking the bottom of the baseboard radiators. You are already tired and irritated from the overtime and now a customer is going to argue that "it can't be the carpet. It has been in there for almost a year now and they never has this problem before. You must be crazy. And by the way, we are not paying for the overtime service call because you didn't do anything!!!"

Re: Painters
I remember a painter who really liked using a sprayer, but he didn’t like to mask things. At a restaurant where I sometimes helped out, this guy sprayed the windows, light fixtures, stainless steel, and even coffee cups. I don’t think he was ever invited back to paint 😏

Re: Poor plumbing installation in an expensive bathroom 🚻
I remember pulling toilets sealed with "Bowl Setting Compound". It was like a linseed based plumbers putty.
Re: Smart Thermostats and Single Pipe Steam Systems
Not a fan of all the tinkering, but some have had success. I still go back to the Best for Steam...Honeywell T -87....even the newer non-mercury ones are better than the Smart ones, I have found. If you can pick up an older model WITH mercury, at a Yard sale or what have you...GRAB IT and put it in... Mad Dog 🐕

I'm only joking Mad.
We all know you can't put mercury in the trash.

It must be properly disposed of, I believe by whoever collects hazardous waste in your area.

Re: Trouble Removing a soldered fitting
Wrap a wet rag around the fitting you don't want to loosen.

Re: Pro opinion on near boiler piping on a new steam boiler.
No luck needed. Just need to know the codes.
Re: Poor plumbing installation in an expensive bathroom 🚻
so they put in a new flange and set it too low, they didn't just build up tile next to the existing flange? i'm not sure i'd count on the integrity of that tile...
