Re: How do you rate the PurePro Trio oil-fired boiler?
Look Closely
The Pure Pro is a boiler that is sold by F.W. Webb a heating supply house. They do not make the boiler. I believe you are better off buying a boiler that is sold and made by a manufacturer rather than a rebadged product that is exclusive to one supply company. You will be able to get better support and there will be better research and development and better technical advice. There will also usually be better parts availability. In your case I would look at a System 2000 made by Energy Kinetics. Here is their web site and you can read about it.

Installation quality is all important but so is boiler quality. If you sign a contract include the provision that the boiler shall be installed according to the manufacturer's installation manual. If the installer will not agree to that, look elsewhere.

Re: Anyone with OWB actually able to run pump without fire to stop from freezing?
The best way to do this would be to use a simple 110 volt transfer pump and pump the water away from the forest eater with 2 hoses; one connected to the boiler drain inside the circulator cabinet and then to the transfer pump and the second hose connected to the discharge outlet of the pump and then laid out to a nearby drainage ditch or a lower point away from the boiler.

Re: Apartment floor not getting any heat steam
Haven't the faintest idea. I was voice typing and somehow that emerged. Your guess is as good as mine.
Re: Nameless steam radiator ID (just curious)
I believe I have met that radiator before, It looks an awful lot like Floyd. Ask him if his name is Floyd... It that is him... Tell him that Edtheheaterman says Hi!
Re: Apartment floor not getting any heat steam
Hope my wife is not following this thread. Death by Heating Help Wall. What a way to go!!!
Re: Can I install the Nest Power Connector with this old Honeywell system?
@armcomdes77
You don't have a "C" terminal and the transformer in your control is likely not large enough to support a Nest.
The post above yours has an attachment drawing that shows how to add a transformer and relay to power the Nest.

Re: Can I install the Nest Power Connector with this old Honeywell system?
You may well be able to MacGyver it. I'd have to be there and check all the wiring to be sure as to what goes where and check the phasing.
Why not make life simple for yourself (and the next guy who has to work on it?). Get a nice new 24 VAC, 40 volt ampere transformer. Hook the Nests up to that (you'll need three wire minimum cable). Use the Nests to control simple SPST relays. Run the present thermostat wires to the NO contacts on the relays.
Done.

Re: Grundfos Alpha 15-55 Pumps don't restart after long shutdown
Address the water quality problems and figure out a way to "exercise" (exorcise!) the circulators off-season. Find a hydronics "priest"?
