Re: Extension radiators don't get as hot as the rest of the building
Is there any banging in the extension radiators? You might want to speed up the venting on the mains and slow down the venting on the radiators in the non extension part of the house

Interesting way to install a strainer. With the drain on the top. I thought that water drained down in the northern hemisphere and it drained up in the souther hemisphere. 
Is your plumber from Australia?
Makes me wonder if your installer understands basic law of gravity?!? Hope his boss designed the overall system.

It's a pretty significant price difference, close to 30%.
For a couple lengths you'll stick to L then when you start getting into larger quantities you want to check code book. Usually how it goes...

Interesting thermometer
I've got this thermometer here that I can see from my bed and it's really handy once you learn how to read it.
So if the cat is on the section next to the pipe it's in the 50s out.
Slightly over and it's 40s.
Her current position in this picture is low 30s.
Teens and she's far over to the vent side.
Single digits and she's on the floor by the radiator.
Below zero and she's on the floor about a foot away.
It's like one of those weather clocks with the little people only it's a real radiator and a real cat.

A thermostat is just a switch. Just like every other thermostat. It's the charging circuit that gives everyone conniption fits. Other than Google spying on everyone, "How do you like them apples?"

Resister logic aside, the wire color reversal on zone 5 is irksome. 
I saw that, too. Decided to leave it alone to remind me of the original installer who worked for me back in the 90's. He smoked lots of pot; on the job, and my customers complained. But his workmanship was top notch, so it was hard to let him go. Most of the guys I trained struggled with hydronics. I hired them as plumbers because that was the majority of the work we did back then and then slowly got into hydronics because that was my motivation. Just a few of them loved hydronics and this guy was one of them; didn't want to do plumbing anymore, but had this bad habit. He left and went to work for a competitor which was when he did this job in Pacific Heights in SF.
So, I left the wires alone.

The arrow is pointing to a full wave bridge rectifier. The capacitor is filtering the bridge output. I think that the rectifier diodes shorted out.

"A funny thing happened on the way to the Forum", Price Inflation. If the present boiler is "long in the tooth" and you're thinking of replacing it, what @109A_5 says makes sense. If you can afford it, figure out what you want and buy it now and put it in the corner of the garage until you need it. There are supply problems and price increases in the future.That is great that you were able to get the boiler so quickly, All you needed to do was move the home closer to sea level for the 3 months or so until you got the conversion kit. That must have been a real bummer moving the house all that distance. But at least you had great views for a couple of months
I ordered a boiler (very hi altitude) and I was told it was 5-6 mo out. I ordered a sea level unit because it was available and a hi altitude conversion kit. I was worried about not getting a boiler. One in the hand is better than two in the bush. I got the boiler in two days. I got the conversion kit in 3 1/2 mo.
Supply is an increasing problem.
