Re: NEST With Two Wires
They StillEdTheHeaterMan said:Really?I can't believe that @pecmsg has agreed with something relating to the NEST Hockey Puck. I never thought I would see the day when he said something even remotely positive about it. Is the world coming to an end? Has Hell frozen over? What other strangeness can we expect in this year 2024?

Re: Radiant Heat Rookie
Interesting. Is the house haunted?
Can you take a picture of the thermostat, the boiler from floor to ceiling and what type of radiant piping/tubing or radiators you have. In other words "Where is the heat coming from?" Is the floor warm?

The triacs on the equipment computers don't like the power steeling. Sometimes they work sometimes they dont!

Re: Well that isn't going to work (outdoor unit iced over)
A while back, when you joined the forum, you selected a user name that started with ICED. And now your heat pump is ICED over. What are the odds?
premonition /prĕm″ə-nĭsh′ən, prē″mə-/
noun
A presentiment of the future; a foreboding. A warning in advance; a forewarning. The act of premonishing or forewarning; hence, a previous warning or notification of subsequent events; previous information.
Do you have any premonitions for the stock market in 2024?

Well that isn't going to work (outdoor unit iced over)

we've had some bizarre weather here, between rain, snow, heavy fog, etc. Somewhere in there I wasn't paying much attention to the compressor on the northeast corner and it got about 3 inches of ice/snow on the coil. To be clear, it was still running (and heating) somehow. I'm about 15 minutes into running it in full-blast AC mode to try to melt it down, luckily I have multiple ways to heat the space so it's not much more than an annoyance.
Anything I can do to avoid in the future or just... pay attention?

Re: Steam boiler Replacement, Heating system overhaul
I cant with my current set up either because the convection rads are build into the walls, lol

Question about commercial steam boiler venting
When you replacing a commercial steam boiler with a new one, do you install a chimney liner? We dont do the installations any more and just rep boilers. We are seeing one local designer stipulate that a chimney liner is required on all steam boiler changeouts and it really jacks the prices up. I can understand the logic when you replace a hydronic boiler but a new steam boiler is only a percent or two more efficient than an older one. 80-82% We never had an issue with this before. You can imagine the cost for this liner Thanks

I can't believe that
