Re: Can a new steam system be installed in a new residential house?
Isn't that true, kinda like HVAC 🙄. One of my closest friends, who is a CT Yankee but apprenticed under a Japanese post and beam master. Frankly he can do anything with a pencil, square and a good circular saw (although he has lots of cool toys). It blows my mind how much work stoppage I've seen on a jobsite because they couldn't find a premanufactured door sill etc. He just makes everything, custom widows, doors, it doesn't matter.
Re: Need help finding a small boiler burner 12-15Kwh
Look to the boat, Dickinson Marine and RV industry for gasoline and diesel heaters in small sizes. You will find air, hydronic and some combined heaters for DHW and heat.
There are also some wood fired versions. I have. Cubic Mini wood burner in my camper, originally designed by a sailer for his boat.

Re: Gift Wrap Your Message
A great story. I also couldn't help but feel the relationship from one generation to the next. I'll explain.
@Erin Holohan Haskell Opens the circulator as her, after Christmas, Christmas present. 30 years later, she purchases the business from her father@DanHolohan, continuing the "circulation." The entire story hits home in so many ways.

Re: Geothermal Installation Video
Awesome. Professionally done and your voice over was perfect. Did you use AI for the voice over or are you that good?
Re: At my whit's end with banging pipes, squirting vents and No heat! Please help!
I'm sorry for your aggravation. Instead of sending the same hapless crew back over and over, your landlord needs to pay a Professional Steam expert to come in and evaluate the causes and provide solutions. The Find a Contractor feature on this site is where they can be found. Good Luck. Mad Dog
Re: Antique steam heat boiler/radiators
We did discuss relocating the boiler. I have not ruled it out. But until we get the asbestos off the old one I won't know the best option. And you are right the labor to remove the old one will be significant.
We are exploring the new conversion burner as a viable option. Most of are vendors are closed today or we would be on it.

Re: Anyone know about disassembly of these full-port Webstone (Nibco) ball valves?
Just had a job where I used use of Locktite to seal slow drip on nibco ball valve. Steps are:
Drain system enough to remove pressure from valve
Clean all corrosions off valve body
Heat valve body with torch for short period to drive off water
Apply locktite 290 sealant; I find a couple drips on top will flow around entire joint on horizontally mounted valve
Wait 5 minutes and reheat for short period for to cure Loctite
Apply pressure.

Re: heat pump water heater with domestic coil backup
Thats just how I drew it. When I do it I'll make sure the expansion tank is below the shut off for the tank
Re: Blower motor shaking but not starting
Wow, what a difference! I definitely had the motor turning the wrong way. It sure blows out of the vents now!
I bought a voltage metre so would someone please tell me what I should be looking for?
