Re: Put new heat exchanger in my gb142
Happy Thanksgiving All
Early morning tuning , water pH at 7.8
Co between 9 and 90 depending on fire rate, we'll below recommended 400.
Dialed in the taco dhw pump and boiler loop pump to medium setting, according to Taco flow rate matches Buderus suggested of max of 15 gpm
Hopefully good to go another 18 years !
Re: Does metal radiator cover affect performance? Absorbs heat or passes it along?
Is there a big difference if @Day_Tripper
keeps the top open one inch (photo)
vs. keeping the lid all the way open?
Re: PTAC oversized issues.....
You could make the heating work but the AC will be awful. Oversized AC will make the unit cycle too often and it will not run enough to dehumidify properly. Not good.
Re: Furnace Turning off before reaching Temperature
Probably oversized. When the temperature hits the high limit setting, the burner shuts off. The fan keeps running until the temperature in the heat exchanger drops, then it keeps repeating until the call for heat is satisfied.
There can also be other reasons-clogged air filter, problem with the blower motor, closed dampers, etc.
Best to have your service provider come check it out and take some measurements.
Re: How to Remove Sweat Unions
] Solved Solution [
After replacing the gaskets three days later I have no leak. Thanks for the help everyone.
Re: Air purgers with compression tanks
good catch on the air going in and out
The B&G has the float vent removed and just the purger part connected to the tank fitting

Re: Can a new steam system be installed in a new residential house?
Of course you could install a Steam system from scratch, but finding a person capable of designing it, installing it and then servicing it are the issues. I did it in my gutted 1899 Victorian Farmhouse in the early 2000s with Period radiators.
Unless you can find such a person, I would recd that you install a multi-zoned Hot Water system with Period reproduction radiators. Same look, much easier to zone and control. Mad Dog
Re: Can a new steam system be installed in a new residential house?
No lies told. I follow a few home inspectors on IG who show issues with new homes. It's crazy how poorly they are built these days. $500K+ homes just shoddy throughout. I will always opt for and older house built at least before 1970.
Re: Air purgers with compression tanks
This thread adapter fits most of the brass air vents, Taco offers them also
This just converts that metric thread to NPT so you can can put a copper tube on the outlet
While the spiro has a 1/2 npt, the hole in that stem is around 1/8”, that would be the limiting factor in how much air vents out

Re: Air purgers with compression tanks
The air discharge port on a SpiroVent is 1/2”MPT, so that can be piped to a compression tank to maintain the air cushion.
I’m not aware if any other brands of air separators (MBR) that are made that way.
