Re: Is this ridiculous? Pool heat pump for space heating/cooling
I actually did this with a 20,000 gallon pool and a 2,500 sq. ft house in PA. It works fine but you need additional pool heating and house cooling too. I can explain if there is interest.
Re: Objects found in heating systems
I occasionally told it in my seminars, Phil. It would just pop up. It always made me laugh.
Re: System 2000 no hot water pressure
Yeah I was getting cold water. Thank you for the reply but I solved my problem. I was a complete moron and installed a Sharkbite fitting with a reverse flow check valve on the hotwater supply. I installed it the wrong way so it was preventing the hot water running to the faucets. So 4 hours of scratching my head and testing every other component. Just before giving up and going to bed…i noticed the stupid arrow on the sharkbite pointing the wrong direction. Live and learn.
Re: 3/4 to 5/8 gas line adaptor
It'll be fine, that's not especially small for an appliance connection. There should be a tag on the whip that gives the maximum BTU/H by the different lengths, but it'll work regardless. Verify the inlet & outlet pressures, both static and operating, if you have any concerns.
Re: Rod size for pipe support
3/8" is fine up to 2" and commonly used for larger sizes although 2 1/2" black would technically require 1/2" rod.
Because of the weight differences between plastic, copper and black pipe the hole or threaded portion of hangers will vary with the material being installed
Re: Rectorseal 8-way boiler water conditioner
I think hydronics system benefit from a conditioner. A lot depends on the fill water quality.
Aluminum mod cons used to ship with a bottle of conditioner, the MZ and early Ultras.

Re: U.S boiler Alta
Hit or miss how? I've installed a lot of the Series 2 burnham CI units don't recall any premature failures or HX leaks. Yes setting the Alta advanced control parameters i agree can be a bit cumbersome, not nearly as bad as groundup has described though.. The lochinvar knight control we all know is really good and offers plenty of fine tuning options though factory support of Lochinvar in my experience is disgraceful. Viessmann are you kidding me? The older viessmann control was a pain to setup with all types of coding, yes i know the newer control is more intuitive. The Sage control which is used in the other US BOILER mod con offerings is much better than the ALTA control that's for sure. How many of the us boiler mod cons have you personally installed and what failures have you encountered?
Re: Replacement PTAC system for a Singer
I would just call Island Aire with the model and serial # of what you have. I am sure they can match it up
