Re: Mod Con Boilers Ranking
Proper sizing and piping design
Proper piping, including venting
Proper fill water
Proper start up
Proper documentation
There have been, and seem to still be some brands and models that have flaws, design errors, history of inadequate support. Those names pop up here from time to time and at other sites
The best tech in the world doesn’t matter if the product is flawed.

Re: Servicing Honeywell Braukmann TRV
PC, glad you finally get to use that tool…..more glad it is not in my shop anymore!
IIRC, I also gave you a bunch of cartridges, mostly used of questionable quality.
If you need more let me know, I will dig thru the boxes.
Hoping they will work for you. You are missing a sunny 45 degree day in NE.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Re: Servicing Honeywell Braukmann TRV
Wanted to follow-up up on this thread to share a tool tip if you need to loosen or remove the valve seat of a Honeywell V110D TRV.
I bought the MT110 Valve Cartridge Changing Tool from @JUGHNE a couple years ago which works well, however you need to break loose the old valve before removing/replacing with MT110.
The V110D valve requires a 2 prong spanner socket which is no longer available but can be easily made from a 24mm/20mm Clutch Tool Wrench Lock Nut Spanner by grinding off two of the tabs on the 24mm end and tapering the two mating teeth to get good fit. I also cut mine down to remove the 20mm end to ensure proper mating to 1/2” ratchet without an extension.
The base part can be bought from Amazon. Search on “24mm 20mm bipolar clutch tool wrench lock nut spanner”; sold by several suppliers.

Re: 2 pipe with traps on rads. Where to set metering valve?
On a vapor system you still need the orifice plate or original vapor valve with a trv.
As to the original question, as @Jamie Hall said, you can run a conventional 2 pipe system like a vapor system with a vaporstat and metering valves. If you do it correctly the steam traps should never close and last more or less forever.

Re: Types of Radiators
Close off that hole near the top with a 1/8 plug and drill and tap for 1/8 NPT here.
Re: Lochinvar NKC150N - DHW High Temp Issue
Yeah, that "someone" was me. Check the back of your low voltage circuit board like I described above. If that looks OK and if you stay connected with us, we'll move on to the next thing until we figure it out. That's the way it works here.
Re: Current Favorite Auto Air Valve?
I work on a lot of EK-1 boilers and I prefer to use the Caleffi automatic air vents on them. You will probably need a 3/4" or 1/2" air vent depending on when your boiler was made. The Energy Kinetics dynamic air separator on the boiler is all you need. I don't think you have anything to gain by installing a Spirovent or something like that.
Re: Honeywell Heat Generator No. 1
Yes he does get it,
I have not seen a wooden yellow Pepsi crate since 1970.

Re: Maid-O-Mist Failure Rate ?
Agreed. Just like steam traps on 2 pipe. If the rad is throttled so all the steam condenses, the traps last forever.
Re: Maid-O-Mist Failure Rate ?
I've had a lot better luck with MOM than Gorton. i don't think any rad vent made today is a 20 year vent, unfortunately.
