Re: System 2000 no hot water pressure
Are you getting cold water from the sinks? Is there a bathtub to try water from the spout? The aerators might have clogged on the faucets.

System 2000 no hot water pressure
Today I replaced the leaking hot water tank with a Hot water heater. Just didnt hook power to the heating elements. I just wired the old system 2000 tank temp sensor to the new tank and wired it up to the boiler control as it was before. Opened the valves and let water fill the tank and bled as much air out as I could. Even when as far as to bleed it out the hot water output. Circulator seems to be working fine as well. There is just no flow of water out of the hot port on top of the tank to the rest of the house. Yes I opened all the sinks in the house and nothing. Went so far as to try and use a shop vac to pull the hot water through the line. Nothing seems to be working to get hot water to flow.
Re: Any plumbers good at small bathroom layout?
Does it have to be a tub? Sometimes you can re-think the design with a small shower and still get more room to turn around without bumping into stuff.
I have seen this shower door for a 38x38 shower. The grandkids called that bathroom shower the rocket ship, if I recall correctly.
What would an “Expansion Tank Relay” been used for historically?
Hello,
I have always wondered what this box is on the back of my 1937 ARCO hot water boiler No.7 was used for. Written in pencil on the cover is “Expansion Tank Relay” and a date of April 1937. It is fully defunct. Although there are electric wires, none of it is live. My home is still fully 100% gravity with no circulators. My expansion tank is in the attic and there are no type of wiring up there. This is also where I fill the system with water.
Please see my virtual tour in pics here. It’s takes you on the full path from this mystery box in the back to the front main shut off. In that picture you can see some old wires that are disconnected inside and taped. Once again, using my non contact voltage tester the taped wires are not live.
Btw, I’m in Michigan and I have already fired this beast up a few nights. We have already been experiencing some 39°-42° nights.😅
Thank you!
Re: What would an “Expansion Tank Relay” been used for historically?
looks like a pressure switch that determines if the system is sufficiently filled from the weight of the water in the pipe to the expansion tank. If it opened a feed valve or shut down the burner is another question.
Re: Is this ridiculous? Pool heat pump for space heating/cooling
I actually did this with a 20,000 gallon pool and a 2,500 sq. ft house in PA. It works fine but you need additional pool heating and house cooling too. I can explain if there is interest.
Re: Objects found in heating systems
I occasionally told it in my seminars, Phil. It would just pop up. It always made me laugh.
Re: System 2000 no hot water pressure
Yeah I was getting cold water. Thank you for the reply but I solved my problem. I was a complete moron and installed a Sharkbite fitting with a reverse flow check valve on the hotwater supply. I installed it the wrong way so it was preventing the hot water running to the faucets. So 4 hours of scratching my head and testing every other component. Just before giving up and going to bed…i noticed the stupid arrow on the sharkbite pointing the wrong direction. Live and learn.
Re: 3/4 to 5/8 gas line adaptor
It'll be fine, that's not especially small for an appliance connection. There should be a tag on the whip that gives the maximum BTU/H by the different lengths, but it'll work regardless. Verify the inlet & outlet pressures, both static and operating, if you have any concerns.
