Re: Main bathroom ceiling opinions
Real plaster done right is as flat and uniform as you want it to be. Done really right, it doesn't have to be painted. Unless you want it painted. Ever. It is sound absorbent. It is a halfway decent insulator.
Unless it is seriously abused — like getting and staying wet — you can probably get a century of two out of it without thinking about it.
The only problem is finding someone with the skill to do it.
I have never yet seen a drywall job which didn't have to be painted, and even then unless it was skim coated you can find the joints with no effort at all. In a humid environment it will mould (plaster may mildew, but it's easy to clean). On the other hand, any kid with a day's training can pop up a drywall wall in a few hours, and it will look great long enough for the owner to sell up and move on…
Am I biased? Who me? Never…
Re: treatment chemical for steam boiler
Besides an oxygen scavenger, there's a chemical in Steamaster that causes minerals to fall out of the water and allegedly fall to the bottom of the boiler where they sit until you drain the boiler. I feel both of these are beneficial especially with harder water like mine.
Re: treatment chemical for steam boiler
Try through the relief valve connection- no boiler draining required.
That's how I do it on the systems I service.
Re: WM QB-180 maintenance ??
Allison is an electronic ignition that develops a 14,000 Volt Spark. Nothing to set. Just connect the white electrode wires to the secondary and connect the primary side to 120 VAC from the primary control orange or blue connection.
Re: WM QB-180 maintenance ??
Yes the spinner is called a Flame Retention head. Some Beckett Burners have the head as part of the end cone, Carlin, Riello and most Wayne burners have them attached to the end of the nozzle adaptor like your QB.
Re: Single Steam Radiator isn't Heating Up
If I could, I would bet $1,000 the pooling water is the problem. If there's an open path, steam will take it, so there must not be an open path, by definition.
Re: Single Steam Radiator isn't Heating Up
Was this radiator added when the extension was done? If yes then the piping is always suspect. Seen this endless times. General contractors think that you can slap steam pipes together and expect everything to work.
Re: Single Steam Radiator isn't Heating Up
Try to remove the sag, then a vent at the end of that main may help. The gurgling and no joy with the vent removed leads me to think waterseal/pitch problem. Pools of water are very good at condensing steam.
Pictures of the saggy main and riser connection would be helpful.
Re: Main bathroom ceiling opinions
I have 8 (4 are finally out of the house). Don't sweat it and get a Power Vee. Real lifesaver for me. 😉👍️
