Re: Carrier Weather maker 9200
Are you sure its wired for either or both operation. A lot of the systems like this were set up to run together to meet the demand of the building as there usually is not a single residential furnace that had the output to meet sanctuary's etc. We would set them up with back draft dampers if it was an either or system. If one was off and other on they would recirculate warm air from the running one backwards from the one off and back into return of one running, Not good. So both furnaces would have backdraft damper. Carrier also made a twinning kit with If I remember right, dpst relay and limits for blower compartments so if one blower failed and started to recirculate it would shut them both off. This was for the all on twinning systems. Did them for churches, memorial halls etc. Was decent cost effective solution when pulling a large old low boy furnace that may have been 400000 btu and 3 or 4000 cfm.
Re: Carrier Weather maker 9200
I thought this looked familiar:
I just answered this on a PM
This is what I said:
If I recall correctly, the Carrier Weathermaker with a 9200 designation was a furnace that used a hot surface ignitor to light the burners each time there’s a call for heat. So, your statement about a separate pilot is somewhat confusing. That particular furnace series has at least three different models that I recall. The 58MVP was a variable input furnace and the 58MCA and 58MXA were fixed input furnaces. I believe that all three models used a secondary heat exchanger to reduce the exhaust temperature below the condensing point and therefore have some sort of water from the exhaust that will drain out of the furnace during operation. Also, that lower exhaust temperature allows the venting system to be made of PVC plastic piping.
Many of the furnaces models in that range had a maximum input of 150,000 BTUh making them a great choice for most homes, however, older equipment in some larger homes had capacities of 200,000 to 300,000 BTU input. In order to use these new smaller units in those older buildings, a twinning kit was developed by many manufacturers, like Carrier, to allow the use of two smaller furnaces to do the job of one larger furnace. This is no doubt what has happened here.
In order to further assist you in how this system should operate and how it does operate, I would need the actual model number of each furnace. The model numbers of all Carrier furnaces start with the number 58 then usually 2 or 3 letters like MCA the several more numbers to designate the size of the burner like 090 or 140. After that are some letters and number combinations that indicate the size of the blower fan and cabinet with and other things. If you can provide me with the model number of both furnaces, I may be able to answer your query.
Re: HTP UFT error 11 help
Quick update on this issue:
After multiple visits by the gas company, I discovered the regulator on the underground propane tank was freezing up. Gas company came out and changed the regulator and did a pressure check. They said they were confident that was my issue. The system has been up and running for 24 hours so far with no ignition lockout.
update #2. Boiler ran for 2 days with no issue. Just got an Error 11 again. Back to the drawing board.

Re: Best option to fix a Radiant floor that's cold on one side?
Not sure the year on this post but did you remove the return manifold stem assembly to make sure it’s good. Some manifolds if turned off to tightly leave the o ring or washer behind and that could hamper the flow. You could do the same on the supply side too.
Re: Frozen Oil lines???????????????

Re: Extreme Left Jaw Pain leads to many things.....and there is more!
I had jaw pain like that once. Sparring Valastro, Heavyweight, beefy 18 year old. I was a 16 Year old middle weight. Hit me with a hook and caught me breathing out of my mouth..(a Real No no in boxing!). Heard a loud pop and saw stars. Definitely thought my jaw was broken...Who knows? Still pops when I open wide 40 years later...ha ha 😂 🤣 😆 😄 Mad Dog
Re: Bad customer behavior
It depends if they are genuinely curious & interested 🤔 or trying to nail you.
1) if HO is nice, they can hang out all day.
2) If they become overbearing I put them to work...run them for this & that go get me this.
3) Nosy & obnoxious not trusting...I go stone cold 🥶 quiet.. I won't talk to them for 10 hours...Had a Guy set up a chair, snack table, a full coffee ☕ pot...(Just for him) right in the boiler room for 3 Days. Paid him no mind.
4) My father in law, will just start throwing pipe wrenches on the floor hard until they get the message.
5) I had one guy right next to me as I was trying to Voltage test a Wall Hung boiler. A hundred questions...very annoying..know it all. After 5 minutes, I said:
"Sir...you hired ME to figure this out. I need time on this. I'll come get you when I figure it out, ok???" It worked....
Mad Dog 🐕 🤣

Re: This weeks case, Replacing a steam boiler at my kids school What would you do?
Two boilers for sure.
For our school I replaced a 65 year old double sized steamer with 2 zones by installing 3 smaller boilers.
I wrote all the specs down to the last detail.
And then submitted a number and a cash donation towards my number. Donation was about 25% of my bid. Talk about buying job!
Even without the discount, my actual number was still less than 2 other bids.
For me it is/was the only new steam boiler install I will most likely do.
Just a project/hobby I wanted to accomplishment.
Not the situation for everyone.

Re: Purple primer mess
You could just sign the water heater "Jackson Pollok" and maybe increase its value by a couple of thousand dollars.
Re: Bad customer behavior
Another story I like to tell that I have used several times to refuse to work for someone.
A customer may question my integrity. Maybe even call me a crook for quoting an expensive repair.
Here is a nice way to call them a crook or dishonest right back.
“My mother taught me that there are many kinds of people out in the world. Some are honest and some are not. But I find that most people are a product of their environment. So if someone believes that you are being dishonest, then they were probably brought up with a lot of dishonesty around them. Remember this when you deal with customers and be selective with who you do business with”
I tell this story to the customer word for word. Than I add
“Since you and I can’t agree that I am doing my best to help you at a fair price, then I am going to take my mother's advice and choose to not do business with you. You would be better off finding a contractor that you can trust to do this job for you.
You owe me nothing for this time. Please call one of my competitors to have this work done. Have a blessed day.”
I like to use “Blessed day” just to rub it in to those that might use this tactic against me. And there are those that will use religion to swindle you.
This happened at the end of a business day that was particularly busy and cold for one person I remember vividly. There was no way that homeowner was going to get another company to come out that evening. I left them with the estimate even though they didn’t pay the diagnostic fee. (which would entitle them to the estimate) and a cold home. Oh well. That is why I like the Flat Rate “up front pricing” plan that states the price before any real work is done. Lets you know if you are going to have a problem getting paid when the job is completed.
