Re: Ancient boiler HELP!
@Rina, you're not getting a modern gas power burner installed without major fabrication to the burner door. Did you send pics to the heating, plumbing, and mechanical places? If so, maybe thats why the lack of feedback. Below is an example of a modern power burner. You can see the difference in the big rectangle opening in the existing burner compared to the round air tube on a modern power burner.
Having a burner that has "GYROSCOPIC - BALANCE" is really awesome, but maybe it's time to upgrade the whole system. Then I'm sure they'll all come knocking.

Re: Heat loss calculation for rooms with high base temperature
You mix low and high mass radiant if you run a decent outdoor reset curve. With stable water temps, the emitter response becomes less of an issue.

Re: Electric Furnace Help
Without a wiring diagram its a guess. You can't see everything in a picture.
Re: Cleaning a 130-year-old hydronic system before new boiler install - was it worth the 30+ hours?
I enjoyed reading this thread. I think the effort you made to clean your system will be worth it.
Unfortunately I think you will be disappointed once you start using that $500 delta T circulator. It's really doesn't work the way you think it should. No matter what mode you operate it in its never "variable speed" or modulating. It just cycles 100% on to 100% off. It doesn't vary the flow based on the delta T.
Re: My SteamPunk boiler
Might as well repair the consumption issue before a new boiler is installed.
Re: My SteamPunk boiler
If you lost a gallon of water from vents etc during an extremely mild month, I'd start working on that as it's likely why your boiler rotted out.
Obviously weather is different all over, but I haven't added water since last March or so.

Re: Question about ek1 wood boiler to dhw
Thank you for your question @masonnewb, and for your posts, @hot_rod .
Here is a drawing indicating how we would recommend wood boiler piping and wiring for a heating professional.
