Re: Empty tank overflowing through vent
sounds like you gauge is bad and the tank is full.
Re: Replacing Circulator Pump
it’s a B&G “little red booster pump” flanged. No longer available so I bought a B&G replacement. Motor is extremely noisy, this pump has oil ports which have been used. I can’t just replace motor using same pump casing because of different bolt holes.
Re: Swapping out an older wall mounted utility faucet
Quite agree. That faucet isn't old enough to worth the effort of restoring, nor new enough to be reasonably repairable. Swap it out for a nice new one. And, since it is relatively new, the threads on the pipes from the wall ought to be modern standard. Go back a few more decades, and things get much more interesting!
Re: Removal of convector radiator cover
sometimes tightening a little first then gently tapping the wrench with a hammer while loosening helps.
Re: Sanity check plan new zone
sounds like you need to shop for a better brand of zone valves.😉
There is not a lot of difference between a zone valve and a zone actuator on a manifold. Often they are the exact same operator as one another
Zone valves with a short life span are often short cycling themselves to death
On the average a ZV cycles 5000 times a heating season. Quality valves, gear trains, motors and switches are designed for 100,000 cycles. Or 20 years of service.
Re: Ecobee premium wiring from old honeywell
Shame to replace that "outdated" thermostat. It's more reliable — and precise — than anything you can buy today. A lot simpler, too.
I like the Carlin unit that @EdTheHeaterMan suggested, but there's nothing wrong with the other one.
Frankly if it were mine I'd replace the whole burner control with a Carlin 70200 control — a lot more functionality. But that's me. It I were going to do it at all — which I wouldn't, since I wouldn't replace that old thermostat unless I were paid — well — to.
Re: AC compressor near heating oil tank?
Check your local codes. My condenser is 3 ft from my Roth oil tank, which is 3 ft from my LP tank. All along the property line.
Re: Swapping out an older wall mounted utility faucet
