Re: Can fill valve cause water to leak into toilet bowl?
@orioncyg Your video shows that when you pull up on the float ball, the water stops.
You need to change the ballcock, AKA the fill valve. You should also check to see if the float ball is rubbing against the side of the tank. If it is, bend the float rod away from the tank wall. If it's rubbing, it will not fully shut the ballcock off.
Better to replace it with a Fluidmaster 400 series fill valve. That should solve the entire issue. The clear poly tubing on the old one might need a push-fit reducing coupling to adapt the new to the old, and/or the new fill tube that comes with the Fluidmaster should attach to the overflow on the flush valve.
You mention that you changed the flapper, where the flapper rests on the flush valve…check that there is no disfigurement on the flush valve. If there is, the new flapper will not seat properly.
Here is a picture of a Fluidmaster fill valve.

~ Is it in a basement?
~ It is not strange to hire someone to remove a boiler.
~ Be sure to stay clear, and out of their way when they are doing it.

Re: Pricing on refurbished cast iron radiators
Stupid. Those buildings will never be comfortable again, and will use more energy in vain attempts at comfort.
Re: Piping from scratch
I have a house that is heated by forced air but i have a separate hydronic zone with a runtal panel radiator that was sized for low water temp. that room is far more comfortable than the rest of the house.
Re: Paint on black iron?
Lipstick on a pig? And since you are going to insulate them, I hope why paint at all?
Re: oops!!!!
Seems like the OP isn't happy.
If I understood the 3 wire aqustat was hooked up on all three terminals so that would be low limit and circulator. Fan relay to run circ.
Could be an old non-integrated system with a tankless coil. Circ relay pulled in by T stat through the fan center relay when circ control is made. Other switch on aqustat maintains water temp by firing burner.
S/B a high limit in the picture as well.
Re: oops!!!!
I would think it could be wired so the wiring would not be in the way to do your maintenance. So no wiring need be disconnected for basic maintenance.
Re: Insulation for steam pipes in basement
1" would be your best bet . Use the boots for the fittings , buy a roll of the tape , and order 20% from what ever you figure ..
Its a sightless cost ,but you will feel better ..
