Re: Another acquisition: ASC acquires Ward
Here we are a year and a half later.
Anvil has dismantled Ward and demolishing their foundries (BUYER FOUND). Ward will cease to exist.
They have sent out a price increase letter today, which will increase the cost of the staple BCI fittings by a very significant amount.
Re: Another acquisition: ASC acquires Ward
They are quickly ruining the company.
Re: Steam boilers that are piped wrong
Give them a copy of my book, We Got Steam Heat. That will convince they without a doubt.
Re: Steam boilers that are piped wrong
Many of the old time boilers just came up out of the boiler into the supply pipe with no header. If they had two supplies and had two tapping's the boiler was the header.
The newer boilers hold less water and a smaller steam to water disengaging area=more velocity. You need the header to slow things down to separate the steam and water
Re: Steam boilers that are piped wrong
We see poor installs often. I question how a horribly piped boiler or system can sometimes last thirty, forty or even fifty years. I am not talking about antique boilers that were converted from coal to oil to gas. I am talking about relatively modern boilers manufactured in the last fifty years. I have also seen boilers piped near perfectly last as little as nine years. I think a lot of it depends on the boiler design, the water quality and maintenance.
Show the customer how you plan to pipe the boiler and why it is important. Also, let them know the system will perform better when your done, and why. Do not pick on the last guy.
Re: 1 Ton = 400 CFM??
Depends on where you are. Your probably doing 350 in Florida, Texass or very humid climates, and 450 in a dry climate like Arizona.
Re: Triangle tube ignition upgrade kit
PTRKIT301
they did a recall quite a few years ago now. There were issues with delayed ignition with the old design. Honeywell had altered the ignition parameters on the board without telling anyone. the updated ignition kit should include the new igniter, transformer, control board, and usually either a vent pipe piece for in the cabinet and sometimes a burner plate and insulation depending on the model. you will still need to do the conversion to LP. it is possible that this boiler is under the new recall they announced I would check with TT before anything else in case you can get the parts or work done for free.
