What am I doing wrong

hi Carl
Have any thoughts?0 -
Keep track of actual temp ( kitchen thermometer?) vs target temp and what is going on in the house.0
-
actual temp outside?
or inside temps?0 -
outside0
-
system 104/104
sensor 30 actual 25 outside
inside 73
flame 27%0 -
now ya wait0
-
ok, I'll wait0

Lochinvar will honor the warranty. They were very fair with me, going beyond what they could have done. I cannot say enough good things about their customer, and tech support.maybemark said:it's still under warranty, I don't know if i told you, when i called up lochinvar to register it. They told me, no warranty, cause i am not a certified contractor

the person i talked with said no0 -
Talk to someone else, that is not the company policy. Triangle Tube has this policy, not Lochinvar. You may have to go to a level above the guys you will get if you just go to tech support.0
-
You're going to need to prove it's defective in order to get a warranty replacement. Have you run the tests yet?0
-
Yes, in fact, you will probably have to buy the part, have your supplier send the old one back, and get a credit from your parts supplier, if the part was bad.0
-
I didn't read the entire thread but I'm surprised that there's an outdoor sensor failure this soon. Any chance the batteries in the ohmmeter used to test the sensor are weak?Steve Minnich0
-
Stephen Just seemed odd the sensor was pretty much reading low 30s when temps dropped sat might0
-
I agree. Is that why the sensor was moved? The thinking being that the original spot was a poor choice?Steve Minnich0
-
Yeah it was above the exhaust for the boiler.0

I always disliked the "parts changer's mentality" in our industry.Steve Minnich0

now the temp is reading 36 and my kitchen oudoor thermometer is 32
Gordy, I'm not a boiler guy, but, I would never and didn't have the sensor above the flue. but, is was about 3 1/2 feet away on a north wall.
I now have it on the same wall, about 10 feet away, and the sensor is sitting next to a downspout0 -
I have the set point for this temp set at 99, and it's very comfortable in the house. I turned up the speed of the circs, now the basement radiator is working
my flame is 41%0 -
i meant to call up the dealer i bought it from, and I just forgot. see if i can get a sensor from them0

Okay......does the down spout leak?
0 -
You're going to have to sort out the sensor issue then get back to getting the curve right.0
-
gordy
I don't understand what you are saying after my quotes
the downspouts don't leak
and what did you say? and why are you quoting me?
I was making a joke, did you take it seriously?0 -
Paul
a few people said, they don't feel the sensor is bad.
Does age play a factor on them, if it's just sitting in a box not being used,
I don't know if you know
my boiler was new old stock, i think from 2011.
would age play a factor ?0 -
You have to do as those people said, and test the sensor. If it's bad, it's not from age. It might be bad, right from the manufacturer ( China?)0
-
I did an ohms test on it0
-
the sensor reads 33, the internet reads 32, and the kitchen outdoor thermometer reads 310
-
Another couple days and it will be perfect...lol0
-
Just so you understand if the sensor is off a couple of degrees it's one thing. If it gets quirky, and starts giving wild erroneous, and in consistent readings then it will effect your curve. Example it goes down to 10* and the sensor reads 28, and then another time same senecio the sensor reads 20. Keep an eye on that.0
-
I'll be watchin it for the next few days0
-
I'm most curious of design day conditions supply water temps, and % modulation you have a lot of mass with the house and system.0
-
Mark where are you at with your outdoor high and outdoor low set points? And shift.0
-
Page 22 of the service manual is the most important thing at this point. Four settings.....Out low, and outdoor high define the curve. Set point at outdoor low and high define the temperature range within the curve.0
-
Ill go check now and post it0
-
out low -10
out high 630 -
set pt low 140
set point high 80
out doorshtd 95
chdon diff 10
shift reset -1
system 95/95
outside sensor 41 kitchen 41
flame 330 -
Any shift?0
