First get a,good thermometer to accurately check it. If it is bad you'll need it to check the new one to.

I questioned it last night when outdoor temps were pretty consistent in the read out. Check a,weather station close to you on line it's colder than 30 out .

First verify that the one you have is actually bad. Assuming it is, get it replaced under warranty.

it's still under warranty, I don't know if i told you, when i called up lochinvar to register it. They told me, no warranty, cause i am not a certified contractor

That may or may not be enforceable. Check with your state department of consumer affairs.

it's bad, it's not 30 outside, it's colder. i think my kitchen would be closer to being right, and that says 25

Maybe. You need to put it in the same spot as a known good (or mostly good) thermometer, at two temps. Stick them both on the back porch for 10 minutes, then measure the resistance. Then put them both on a table inside for 20-30 minutes and measure again.

When you change a bunch of things at the same time, your chances of figuring out what's going on go way down.

That 'sp high' number is probably a bit high.

The 'out air shut' definitely is ;)

Some time tomorrow, you need to disconnect the outdoor air sensor, set the boiler to a fixed temp that you think might be about right, and run the tests I posted above. If the sensor tests out OK, the location is bad. Is there any chance the wall it's on has a hot pipe behind it?

no way is the wall warm there

out air shut is defiantly (what)
I just caulked the hole where the wire went thru, I did feel a tiny bit of cold, if cold is coming in, then hot is getting out

what numbers should i change then?

Mark.....You should have gotten a service manual with that boiler. It has a description of all the parameter settings and what they are.
  • maybemark
    maybemark Member Posts: 1,131
I don't see any test you posted above
Paul, i have the service manual
    it explains and shows defaults

  • maybemark
    maybemark Member Posts: 1,131
I changed everything back how kurt told me the 1st time but I did put the shift reset to -2
I also caulked the hole with the wire
the sensor went up to 30, after i caulked the hole

Shift the reset curve -15, and see if that target temp goes way down.

Leave it there and let the house cool off.
  • maybemark
    maybemark Member Posts: 1,131
    I think that's a good idea
  • Paul48
    Paul48 Member Posts: 4,469
Even if the sensor is NG, you can still gain valuable info from it. It thinks it's 30 out, and 117 was to high a target....that's useful info.
  • maybemark
    maybemark Member Posts: 1,131
what would think a good target number is for 30?
things like this, someone who has been around, might have an idea. but, since I know so little, and the manual at times is like reading Greek.
Now, if you ask me about finish carpentry, I would know
    thanks Paul

There's no magic number. It's the number that holds the house at the perfect desired temperature.

    maybemark Member Posts: 1,131
    ok, I understand that

If you find the house getting cold, move to -10
