I would start by lowering the target water temp at the end (the one with an OAT of 60-something) of the ODR curve -- maybe 5°F or so.

I just came up and brought the shift reset curve to -14
  • maybemark
    maybemark Member Posts: 1,131
is the shift reset curve the same as what you are asking me what to do?
  • maybemark
    maybemark Member Posts: 1,131
i see the ort in the manual, it has high and low
  • maybemark
    maybemark Member Posts: 1,131
should I raise the shift reset higher? and if so, to what?
then lower the out door air high?

Caveat: I have some experience with the Lochinvar controls, but I do not work with them as frequently as some here.

The shift feature moves both ends of the curve up or down at the same time. I would set that to zero and move both endpoints down. I'm not sure where you were before you shifted down 14, but I might start moving the bottom down by 16 and the top down by 22. Then watch for a few hours.

default for the high outdoor air is70
default for the low out door air is 180
now you want me to change the shift reset curve to 0, which default
then change the low to 16 and the high to 22?

Where are you at on shift?
  • maybemark
    maybemark Member Posts: 1,131
the oda does not go as low as your asking for both high and low

    SWEI Member Posts: 7,356
Are the first two parameters still at the default settings? If so, you have effectively changed them to 56 and 166 with the -14 shift. We know that 56 makes no sense at all, so let's begin at the beginning. What are the two outdoor temps?

now I am on default, before swei I was at I think -14

    maybemark Member Posts: 1,131
I misunderstood, and tried to put them at the numbers you mentioned, not subtracting that number
  • maybemark
    maybemark Member Posts: 1,131
now I am all messed up, my mistake . I'll go and subtract those numbers.
What should i have the reset curve at?

forgot to tell you, the sensor for outside is the same as the temp showing in the kitchen 31

    What is "on default" ?

We want to work with four numbers here:

    Outdoor 1 Low
    Outdoor 1 High
Set Point 1 at Low Outdoor Temp
Set Point 1 at High Outdoor Temp

Set point you were default 180 drop that.

    maybemark Member Posts: 1,131
Kurt, with the numbers i thought you want me to go too, it won't let me go that low
when i got downstairs, it has hit the set point, and the boiler was off

    Set point outdoor air parameter.

Gordy, I feel we were close on what you were telling me to do.
Kurt, I appreciate you helping, but I am misunderstanding what you want me to do

    We are saying the same.

well, I am mixed up, because when i turn the knobs, they will not go to what he is asking for, unless I am turning the wrong knobs
    which is a good possiblity

Set the shift to zero and try these:

    0 Outdoor 1 Low
    64 Outdoor 1 High
150 Set Point 1 at Low Outdoor Temp
88 Set Point 1 at High Outdoor Temp

Unless the place is truly unbearable, just take notes for now.

We want to see what happens to the indoor temp when the outdoor temp rises or falls. The OAT will need to rise or fall at least 5-6 degrees before we can draw any conclusions. Once the OAT changes, watch the indoor temp for an hour or so afterwards.

You're dealing with something over 1,000 pounds of water here plus probably 2x that in steel. It does not change speed quickly, which is a very good thing -- but you do have to know how to drive it.

    ok kurt
My tenant complained that it is too hot upstairs, he opened the window,
It is much too warm for me on the 1st floor
The temp evened out a little
my bedroom, where I have the stat is 73
    the kitchen is 73
the living room is 68 (always been colder in there.
I am just wearing a tee shirt, and I'm sweating

It's only been 30 minutes since you changed those settings. Open windows if you need to, but let it run for at least an hour.

Watch the supply temps on the boiler. The new target in () will be lower and so should the actual. The lower you get it the more the boiler will like it for efficiency.

If you remember your old target was 128 on the call for heat.

It happens. You need a good quality thermometer to check it against the ohm reading.

I know that the sensor is bad, now what, should i buy another one?
  • maybemark
    maybemark Member Posts: 1,131
any suggestions on what i should do now? It is still too hot.
with a bad sensor, I imagine I won't be able to get this boiler fine tuned
