Re: Old 1/2" copper not same 1/2" size
There are some very old Mattress Tag Police still alive today. You never know Chris! That patent was issued in 1936.....Just for fun, I tried the swaging method myself. I cut a piece of 1/2" copper in half, heated one end cherry red to soften, let it cool, then swaged it open to 5/8" ID using a $10 Home Depot hammer-in swaging tool. Clean and flux mating surfaces, insert the other piece of 1/2" copper, and solder together. Worked like a charm.Be very careful about what you post here. You might have just infringed on Mr Recker's Patent 2,040,628. You never know if the mattress tag police are monitoring this forum.

Re: Wiring Google Nest Power Connector to Multizone Heating
If you decide to wire it without @SteveSan's control suggestion. I might offer you this non patented device I invented called the SmokeKeeper.
It keeps the factory installed smoke inside the transformer. Saves money on replacement transformers
And if you act now you can get two Smoke Keepers for only $29.95 plus shipping and handling of $25.00 in the 48 United States and some parts of Alaska.

Re: Its on every plumbing exam.......
Does anyone else use the ♂ and ♀ characters? Mostly on copper pressure fittings. It took awhile, but most of the guys at the counter understand what I mean now.
c x ♂ union
c x ♀ x c tee
They're quick to write down when you're in a hurry.

Re: Why You Should Always Hire A Steam Pro
Any ideas why it might be leaking steam??At least it's not trapping water!! Got to love the GC's.

Re: Why You Should Always Hire A Steam Pro
Yep... We've run into many of those.....nearly always in the most expensive areas of Chicago. General rule is the more expensive the neighborhood, the scarier the mechanicals.
Re: Bending Steel pipe...Old School
I wish I took a picture of one at a customer's house. 1 1/2" steel pipe steam return in the basement, under the one turret portion of the house. 15' semi circle along the wall. The other turret on the other end of the house was replaced by a plumber, using copper and 1/8 bends...ugly.
Re: Its on every plumbing exam.......
With this guy he spells things the way he hears it so have to try all different ways to pronounce combination of letters.
