Re: American Radiator Co No. 1 Ideal Redflash Boiler | Update or Replace? [Photos]
It's in great shape, I have the same unit and I am currently replacing it....my God Rinnai combination water and Boiler...95% efficient....it's probably a coal converted unit. Original furnace and not in as good of shape. But damn 100 years or so and my HVAC guy says it's the oldest he's ever seen....it's jacketed, full if asbestos so....it's been on its last, last leg for 40 years and the last guy put a fill valve in it and said better start thinking about it.

Re: The case of the lowered steam pressure, this Friday's case.
There is some ASME rule about operating a high-pressure boiler at reduced pressure believe it or not I don't think it is allowed. Always sounded crazy to me but there is a reason for it.
Re: LG air to water heat pump
here is a snap shot of performance. Better than most I've seen.

Suppliers that help with supply detail and design of Radiant Heat
When I did my Solar I called AltE store and told them what I wanted, and they put together a quote of everything I needed, and it all worked out in the end.
Are there similar suppliers for Radian Heat?
My heating source is not common (Sanden Eco2), but from a plumbing perspective, it's just a two zone radiant system with two heat exchangers (pre-heat with drain-back solar system and exchange heat via required Taco x-block with Sanden Eco2 tank).

Re: Importance of outdoor temp sensor for reset on Viessmann Vitodens B1KE-120 ?
@GGross I thought Viessman had 0-10v control but called it something else. The 200 series has a 0-10v. Older Viessmann equipment utilized 0-10v but instead of the 0-10 correlating to a burner operating percentage it corresponded to a setpoint temperature. Viessmann doesn't like external controls operating their burner. I believe the new 0-10v is more in line with US needs but not entirely sure.
You may be thinking about the european "open therm" which I am pretty sure is very similar to how we use 0-10v controllers. Viessmann used open therm controls as their own form of room feedback or indoor reset. most of the 200 series boilers have this capability if I'm not mistaken.

Re: Venting - What's code?
The national standard plumbing code requires the aggregate vent area to equal the required building drain size. (Not the actual size that was installed.)
So if the house requires a 3" sewer leaving the building, your aggregate vent area must be the same in square inches. It does not need to be a 3" pipe, it needs to equal the 3" in square inches, which is two 2" , and one 1-1/2" pipe. Or a 3" pipe of course.
Even if the building drain leaving the building is 4", but the calculations say it needs a 3", that is all you are required to provide in Venting. Most all residential only requires a 3" building drain. (The building drain is the main drain inside of the building, to 3' outside of the building, where it becomes the building sewer. )
The hoar frost portion of the code is not adopted in the NJ edition.

Steam input seems to be block ways to unblock?
Two pipe building, four stories tall, third-floor bath rad no steam out of supply, Replaced Trap, Removed supply shutoff valve, valve full open. All other floors' bath rads are functioning correctly. I am thinking of air pressure on the supply to unblock possibly; any Idea would be helpful. Thanks, Ed. W

Re: Thermostats for Steam/Hot Water Hybrid
There is a standard wiring system that will solve your issue. It is possible that the person that installed the addition system along with the RA832 and the Aquastat missed something and wired it incorrectly. There is also the possibility that the Aquastat is not installed in the correct location and is not stopping the burner when the boiler starts to make steam.
The Aquastat should be installed below the water line in the boiler, not on a pipe that is external to the boiler. I will follow up with the proper wiring diagram shortly. It would be helpful if you posted a picture of the boiler so I can suggest a better location for the aquastat and also know what is operating the steam boiler.

Re: Make it work....
This was done by a GC...one call does it all..PVC and Home Depot made everyone a plumber...Mad Dog 🐕
Re: Venting - What's code?
In SF, you need at least one full bore vent stack, usually 4” for residential. Elsewhere (per UPC), you only need to add up all the vents to equal the area of the building drain. Those were tough lessons to learn when you did it wrong, but you always did it right afterwards.
