Thats not a P trap, its an S trap.
Really? S-traps have no vents. 
Increasing the size of the drain prevents self-scouring, but I sure like a 2" p-trap on my bathtub.

Not sure about all the terminology but the long pipe from the bottom of the drain box to the beginning of the crazy trap is about 19 in.
The two elbows at the bottom are vent 90s. That is what concerns me because I am worried about flow volume. All of all of it is 2" PVC and it is all glued but he is not a big fan of primer.
He is 79 years old and has been doing it a certain way for a long time. I don't have many complaints about a 79-year-old who comes to work everyday in cowboy boots and puts in a solid 8 hours of plumbing. However, I think he is getting tired by the end of the day and some of this stuff seems a little sketch.

Taking a shower should have no effect on the pressure in the coil/ hydronic side of the system. The Axiom gauge should not move.
The pressure in hydronic system, assuming no leaks will go up and down as temperature increases and decreases. It has to, as water is heated it expands. This expansion pushes against the diaphragm in the tank an as it does this gauge will rise.

Also a link to a You Tube on expansion from a former Amtrol trainer. At minute 1:08 he explains why pressure must go up as water is heated in a closed loop system with a properly sized and pressurized system.

Your tank needs to be removed from the system. An air gauge to check and adjust to the pressure the on that air stem at the end of the tank. Set it to 12psi.
then set the Axiom to 12psi.Axiom will fill to, make it 12 psi.
To use these charts:
We can allow hydronics to rise to 27 psi typically, 3 below below the relief valve setting.
So with the acceptance chart go from 12 psi fill to 27 max.pressure and the factor is .36, 36%.
So at 27 psi the tank will have 36% water in it, 64% air.
When the system is at 12 psi,and the tank was charged to 12psi, there is no water in the tank!
Next table shows acceptance volume, what size the tank needs to be based on how much fluid is in it.
Assume your system holds 30 gallon. Temperature goes from 50- 140F.
.0149 is the expansion factor.
In a 30 gallon system is is 30X .0149= .447. the smallest tank you can buy is a #15, plenty for a small volume low temperature swing system.
If you can valve off the Axiom from the system and pressure continues to rise and pop the relief, it could be the Axiom pressure valve is bleeding by. It keeps allowing a trickle of water into the system.
Or I would suspect a pinhole in the coil. So tank water pressure, maybe 60 psi? is crossing into the hydronic side.

2 drops a day is really low for an actual leak in my opinion. Any time I’ve had a leak on a connection like that it has been immediately noticeable and not something that needed attention years down the road. A leak is typically beading up every few seconds to a minute tops. If it’s tight it’s not going to bead at all once condensation is eliminated. Hard to believe you are leaking two drips a day

Thank you very much for all the advice I would love to go new but with being broken and broke I have to put things back together and do what I can with the little I have. We are all being chased off the island if your not rich and I'm just trying to survive the last years. Have a good one and thanks all for the info. I did send mad dog 2 an email.

If one of our tenants had to suffer through 90+ degree heat in the winter and open the windows and use fans, I would do everything possible to fix the problem. Unacceptable. I'm assuming you're not exaggerating the temperature btw...Have you measured it? If it really is that bad, your landlord really should take action. This is not yours to solve. You pay good money every month. Least he can do is not overheat your apartment. Good luck to you.

many years ago, I carried concentrated iodine and lead wool in my service truck that I could use to seal pin holes in cast iron boiler sections and radiators. I do not know if you can still buy the very concentrated iodine any more but if you could I would try that first. You would need to take the rad out of service, pour the iodine into the pin hole and fill the hole with the lead wool by tapping with a ballpeen hammer The iodine caused the cast iron the rust quickly and the lead wool helped to fill the hole. If this does not work you can always do the other fixes.

I ve removed many ideals ,burmhams and u name it old steam coal to oil to gas steam boilers and as much as guys complain I never though I need more then what I’ve always carried in just a 5 lb lump hammer and decent chisel cut the rods and if your skill at slamming a chisel is excellent then blast between the section w ur lump and chisel and done . Now this may not be for those who cannot swing a hammer and lack hammer to chisel coordination and might blast your hand but personally I don’t think anything is as easy and I won’t spend a cent or do anything different plus this is the same way the boiler demo guys have done it for as long as I can remember . When I was younger I had a 7.5 lump hammer and it would only be a few shots and usually nothing could stay together ,lost that bad boy so now it’s a 5 lb but most of those old bears of a boilers are already done and as I get older I ll pay the demo guys a couple of bucks and there done in a blink of a eye why destroy your back especially when your at a age where you got 40 years of time in already breaking down and carrying out sections and new boilers down ,my days of that are winding down on that end ,plus every one wants cheap these days which w me it ain’t gonna happen been there done that and didn’t get a bumper sticker or tee shirt for it .

Ps do yourself a real favor and find a good boiler demo guy and pay them to remove and set your boilers in place cause you’re not doing anything including the boiler if you strain and hurt your back you ll be sitting on the side lines on the bench if your lucky .
