Re: Boiler wiring tips
Step 1 Understand the basic electrical circuit. Source > Control > Load > Return path to source
This is a basic electrical circuit.
- Source = two 1.5 volt batteries
- Load = light bulb
- Control = manual switch
- Return path to source
Note that the load and control can be reversed. The load can be on the Source side or the Return Path side of the circuit.
From that basic understanding of electricity, you can build any analog electrical control circuit to operate a boiler.

Go very slowly and know when you need to bring in help. It takes years to get really good. Mad Dog
Re: Bit the bullet: bought an HTP UFT-100W on ebay
Whether or not it was dumb depends on how the boilers arrive! Certainly if you get 2 new boilers for that price then you got a great deal. Personally I think I would install one and just save the second one in storage. I think the system would be overall more efficient with a single right sized boiler, slightly simpler piping requirements as well so less that can be messed up. Also 2 vents means twice the chances to recirculate flue gas, keep those intakes far away from the exhaust
Re: OT: Underground Wiring Options
for the cost difference in the larger PVC, why not leave the option for a 50 or 100A upgrade?
1-1/2” PVC would be my suggestion
I believe 18” burial, 12” under driveways is how the code reads
I put yellow caution tape in the trench a few inches above the conduit

Re: DIY Boiler Installation -- Peerless 63-03
i'd look for a used radiator, although you can buy one new from castrads or us radiator. depends where you want to end up on the time vs paying less equation. that isn't anything special and splitting it will likely require a lathe to put it back together.
Re: Can someone explain this hydronic loop heating.
what 3rd pipe? i think that contraption is screwed in to the manifold of the convector.
Re: OT What is this metal piece found in excavation?
Is this 18 inches down from the surface ? It should be. If the new run is also PVC it also should be 18 inches down too.
Re: Help me calculate pressure drop!
His CO2 is 5.42 %
C0=4
O2 is 10.2%
How is this grossly rich?
Its the opposite he is short of gas and the fire is too lean.
