Thank you Alan!! The simple answer I was looking for.
Re: Tankless coil feeding storage tank?
Aquabooster is the name of your hot water system . It's a step up from just running a coil . The coil will deliver constant hot water if the flow rate though the coil is under a certain rate with the same incoming temperature of fresh water . The water that heats up the coil is also used for heating the home. Durning the winter the water enters the house is cooler and boiler water is sent out to heat the home . The tank will give you storage for good even temperature hot water and volume for a shower..
Hope this helps

Re: Outdoor reset
Something weird might be happening with that company the rep here said they don't rep them any longer but they are still listed on the website. and the manuals don't seem to download. found an archived one on manualslib but they don't say what the sensor spec is. If vesta tech support can't tell you, and the parts are not available, and the spec is not even known….. I'm not sure what to say…. Other than I am glad I wasn't talked into stocking these by the rep, they were pushing pretty hard several years ago.
Re: DIY boiler supply leak woes
He (the plumber) said the circ shouldn't be on the supply side because that's where the water is hottest and that will shorten its life (and ideally for the same reason zone valves should be on the return too), so he wanted to move the circ.
This plumber does not understand that it is no longer 1950. And does not understand the concept of Boyle's Law, and has never read Pumping Away. That said, he is trying to sell you on something you do not need And anything he charged you to tell you this misinformation was money ill spent. Especially if he didn't fix the leaking sweat joint you hired him for. Don't call that guy for heating anymore. He might know how to clear a drain line or install a faucet, but he is clueless about Hydronics.
Also there is no such thing as a pipe that is too big. "2 lanes down a 5 lane highway". I have been on that road, and it makes for easy, congestion free driving.
It appears that you can easily get to that leaking fitting by closing all the zones and the valve below the circulator. that will allow you (or a plumber that has a brain) to access that leaking fitting to heat it up and get the leak to stop with some sort of soldering. I can only think that the fitting was not clean or the copper pipe was not clean or you burned the flux away by overheating the sweat joint. That new adaptor on a polished piece of copper should sweat together nicely.
Sorry you got stuck with a plumber that does not want to do his job.
Re: original circulator sized too small?
If you are at 5000' elevation or higher you derate boiler output also.
So in Denver that boiler output is more like 157,000 so 15 gpm would be adequate.
Yes, and air purger, the microbubble type is what you should have for an air, and noise free efficient hydronic system

Re: original circulator sized too small?
I’m not sure he needs 17 gpm. We need to know what heat emitter capacity he has
He mentioned 121’ of fin tube, thats 6 gpm, on one floor what about the rest of the house? If he has the same amount on the other floor, that’s 12 gpm needed. A 007 might cover 10-12 gpm
Also, the boiler is piped 1-1/4, a bit small to move 16 gpm

Re: original circulator sized too small?
if the piping is only hot like 4' away from the boiler you're not even getting 1 gpm.
The Battle Inside Your Boiler: Air vs Steam
In this video, I go over the battle inside your steam system between Steam and Air. I hope this helps you better understand how steam systems operate.
Re: Changing out a heat pump stand with unit in situ
I wouldn't use a ladder across the scaffold. Get a 4 x 4 or something similar or screw some 2 x 4s together at least 3-4 of them so it doesn't roll. The unit isn't very heavy. You only have to pick it 2"
Re: Repiping monoflo returns, how does this look?
You mentioned that this is a high spot on the loop and all the radiators fed by this pipe are on the basement floor. You need to get the air out initially so place an air vent in a tee fitting that you install while you have everything is apart to replace the valve.
