Re: Square Plug wrench
If they used Teflon tape it might come out with a standard twelve point socket and a very large breaker bar. Pipe wrenches or fifteen inch adjustable wrenches work sometimes with cheater bars (pipe). Unfortunately, after twenty years the heads have a tendency to snap off when you try to remove them.
Like others suggested, plan on drilling and cutting the plug out.
Re: Square Plug wrench
maybe slightly more if it is a raised square plug but you are probably cutting it out. take most of the middle out with a hole saw then cut 2 slots almost to the threads and knock the wedge out with a cape chisel.
better installers will replace plugs with nipples and caps so they can be removed or are easier to cut out if needed.
Re: Indirect Water Heater not level ?
Only if you have OCD. It will work just fine 1/2 a bubble off
Re: Indirect Water Heater not level ?
Hi, I'm not thrilled to see the tank help up on one side with a small block of wood. Looks like something to go wrong in future. I'd rather see a much broader support that couldn't so easily fail and possibly damage the piping. 🤔

Re: Taco SR501 switching relay
@EdTheHeaterMan bingo. There are certainly some applications where the piping is less than ideal that some sort of positive shutoff would be necessary, but when properly piped there is absolutely no need for a zone valve in addition to the circulator.
Re: Help with Goodman GSXC16 Error code 04
All this talk about the electric service is moot. The electric company fixed the problem and now we are just waiting on the warranty replacement parts. Other neighbors on the same underground service past my son's home also experienced electrical problems and their light dimming problems have also stopped. Many problems solved. Still getting error 04. Now we will see if the replacement board will correct that problem.
I'm just giving all here an update now that I believe that the issue will be corrected as soon as the PCB in replaced. I believe that some hard to solve problems here never reach a conclusion because once it is fixed, there is no need to post anything here and we all would like to know what happened. Did the problem get fixed? Did the the equipment get replaced? Did the wrong steam piping get repiped correctly? Did the house blow up? Did the OP die in the explosion? Just wanted everyone to know that I'm still alive!🤣
Stay tuned to this channel for more updates after station identification.
Re: Square Plug wrench
You have a little or no chance of pulling that plug out after 20 years.
Re: Taco SR501 switching relay
If it's piped correctly, there is no reason to have a zone valve at all.
Re: Radiant heat with oil? Can it be done?
Sure, any heat source can be used for hydronic radiant.
Be aware that snowmelt takes a lot of boiler capacity. The boiler you have may not have the capacity to heat and melt snow.
It may be wise to have a dedicated boiler for the SIM (snow ice melt)

Re: Radiant heat with oil? Can it be done?
Of course you can do radiant with oil. Your heating water the fuel does not matter. You can heat water wit electric, natural gas, propane oil or solar.
You just need an installer who knows how to do it and you need the right equipment pump, mixing valve and the know how to pipe it right.
