oh stop already....
we get the point, Now what are you gonna do about it!!? Thats ok keep going, I think you got one of the elders to turn around 180* In thier thinking, why stop there!! I read a story of replacing water heaters (power vent) with a "fvir" naturarl draft type, went balistic when Plumber told him it would be two days before he would have hot water, now if this thing were to work and "handy-andy" sells this home to unsuspecting Homeowner...........
Murph'0 -
Let's share that story
on another post.
I wonder how many here have considered the new water heaters?

Such a simple thing
checking a flue.
Now a family has been torn apart.
We need to educate ourselves as well as the public about CO.

HEY FOLKS!!!!!!
Tell me what is wrong with this picture, aside from the horrible loss of life.
Someone has identified a blocked flue as the culprit. They mention a birds nest and a squirels nest in the chimney.
Tell me how that can happen.

seems to linger
had the truk out of garage, garage and furnace test fine. Had truk down the road with windows open @ 125mph, does not seem to matter. It is quite evident that it lingers and my thoughts are focused on how this stuff compounds within itself. any chemist on the wall??!!

truck CO
The exhaust sustem on the truck needs some attention(Inspection)Any hole cracks in the truck Floor ,Firewall. Could the fresh air intake for the heater be bringing fumes in?Does the exhaust dump outside the body or under? any windows in the back open, they'llsuck exhaust fumes into the truck.0 -
truthfully George
I believe this phenominal event is from the cloth interior and cardboard boxes in the van used for stocking parts. It's been cold so the van stays in the garage while not in use, but the space in the garage is free of CO readings. the exhaust is new and floors are solid. But i see where you are coming from, this is why kids seem to fall asleep during family travel (not mine, they are too rowdy) The real cause is obviously the "phillip morris co." and I am combating this on a different front. My concern is how it lingers after longer periods of sitting still, and could this change of balance (ie;oxeygen level) compound itself during re-use of contaminated air?? Hope I explained that correct. Looking forward to trip to maryland, and I guess Ron Jr. will be bartender on the trip to burnham!! See you there.

CO
Just returned from a no heat service call. Pressure-Trol's pig tail clogged. Fired it back up, and as i was talking to the HO, I felt the heat coming off the HWH. i checked draft with a match, and it blew it out. took apart the flue,, BINGO! completely clogged. i asked the HO if he was feeling ok, he replied NO, just got back from the Dr. he said this was my fourth trip there, they suspect Cronic fatige sydrom. Now this is interesting, the guy had a CO detector right there within 5' of the boiler. Cleaned it out, reassembled & checked draft again, Perfect (or as perfect as it gets with a mirror, flashlight, and a cigerette @ 10pm). The guys mother just died in the house about 2 months ago, she was in her 90's so no one said anything, or let me refrase that I didn't say anything other than i think i might have saved your ****. The guy's sister gave him the co detector for christmas. does anyone think I should say anymore to this customer?? one more interesting tidbit the old lady was loaded and the son was caring for her but has another brother and that gift giving sister. I'll complete this by saying I charged the guy $450. he paid but he sqwaked...... Got to get me one of them there tester kits........ BOBBY OOOOOO NJ0 -
Rob
You almost have me speechless.
Doctors would not look for the "COHb" levels in a 90 year old person.
According to JAMA, 2100 people die each year in the USA from accidental CO poisoning. That's ACCIDENTAL.
And that is only the documented cases. MANY MANY more go undocumented because dioctors like most contractors DON'T TEST!
Get your self a tester, but go get trained first. That way you know HOW to test.

Doctor's waiting rooms...
a perfect place for posters or brochures alerting people that they may have a CO problem in their home that is making them or their family sick. Many times the patient has to ask "do you think it could be this" to spur the doctor to consider a possible cause of illness.0
