I want to give recognition to @JohnNY and his company. Using the forum he helped me understand why my boiler was not performing properly. It starts with the near boiler piping was completely wrong. There was no header so water was going right into the mains. In addition, they came out and repiped the boiler and it runs correctly and pretty quietly.

    I don't see the relief valve in that picture.

    @SlamDunk I don't know how it impacts performance but the Watts install instructions state to install in the vertical position.

    I would pull the wiring up that is resting on the steam pipes, so the wires don't get cooked. By some wire tys at Home Depot. They sell one type that you can put a screw in the end

    I assume it's because in that position it will collect a lot of gunk and be blocked from "feeling" the high pressure it is supposed to protect against

    They were installed like that for 100 yrs, but unfortunately last 20 or so, they recd vertical and I agree with it.  LESS likely to clog with splunck.  I actually prefer to mount them higher.  In any case? Relief valve should be tested annually & replaced every 5-7 yrs... Piece of mind.  Mad Dog 🐕
